Dr. Arthur King Fan Tong, MD

My husband has a chronic condition so, believe me, I have encountered a lot of doctors. Dr. Tong was a refreshing change from the pedantic experience I have often encountered. He gave us a realistic view of risks and treatment of skin conditions -- no hype, just the facts ma'am My husband's history suggests little skin cancer risk, mine a little more, but not a lot. I should come see him in a year, my husband, 1 or 2 years. Great. Realism. Honesty. And, he's a nice guy, to-boot. If you are a hypochondriac then you should find someone else, otherwise, go see this doctor. He's great.

I was not happy with Dr. Tong, at all. I found him to be very condescending and was very abrupt. He did a skin check - which was the quickest I have ever had - never asked if I use sunscreen, and when I requested a prescription for Renova (which I have been using for years) .. he actually asked "And what do you think that is doing for you?" I had the impression that I was keeping him from something else - and I left knowing that I would never return.

I was not very impressed with Dr. Tong. His bedside manner was rather uprupt and certainly not friendly. He fired questions at me and then basically said that there was nothing he could do for me. My skin condition can sometimes be itchy and he basically told me to stop itching it. Can you give me some suggestions on how to do that. He was not helpful. He did a skin check for cancer, and I was pleased that he found no cancer, but I felt like he did not see me as a person, and was not very helpful.
