Dr. Asad Ali Sheikh, MD

I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with Dr. Sheik and Orlando Health has been extremely disappointing. I have Hairy Cell Leukemia and provided a second opinion along with NIH studies from Dr. Robert Kreitman, one of the leading experts in this disease. Despite this, I felt completely dismissed. Communication was poor, appointments felt rushed, and concerns were barely addressed. I was told I would receive additional Rituximab treatments once insurance approved them. Insurance approved, treatments were scheduled, then I received a call from a nurse saying the doctor changed the plan and wanted to push treatment into July. The explanation given was that “there isn’t much data” on my cancer, despite NIH-backed studies and protocols followed by major hospitals. This sudden change forced me to rearrange work and take unpaid time off. At this point, I’ve lost confidence in my care and am now searching for a more competent oncologist and treatment facility.

He refuses to recognize accepted standards of iron/ferritin levels in patients with ulcerative colitis and restless leg syndrome, relying rather on his arrogance. He refuses to order iron infusions when the test results clearly show the the patient is well below the accepted standards recognized by the rest of the medical community for patients suffering from those two maladies. Scheduling is near impossible because they rely on voice mail which they may or may not answer or reply to.
