Ashley Fankhauser, MD

Ashley Fankhauser, MD, is an internal medicine physician who practices hospital medicine. She cares for adults during acute illness and helps them prepare for a safe transition home. Dr. Fankhauser brings together each patient's health information to understand the full picture and create a care plan that fits their needs. She listens to patients and families, welcomes their questions, and takes time to understand what matters most to them. Dr. Fankhauser has a special interest in using ultrasound to support diagnosis and treatment. She also enjoys performing medical procedures and teaching medical students and residents. Her research has focused on the use of ultrasound in medical training and its role in medical school education. She earned her bachelor's degree in biology, graduating summa cum laude, and received her medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School. She completed an internal medicine residency through the University of Minnesota and received the …Outstanding Generalist Award from her peers. She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Physicians. Outside of medicine, Dr. Fankhauser enjoys hiking, running, reading, concerts, and spending time outdoors with her husband and their miniature Australian Shepherd, August.
