Dr. Ashok Cherian Jacob, MD

My mom traveled 4 thousand miles to come to the US in search of treatment for a terrible case of Rheumatoid Arthritis, her hands go numb and her fingers are completely deformed. The only thing that helps her with the pain is some really bad medication called Prednisone, and that has really bad side effects. But at her age 67 it is the only thing that allows her to move her fingers or lift her arms when she has crisis. Dr’ Jacobs asked for blood work to be done to find out what kind of arthritis she had…. Prior to provide medication or any treatment. The blood work was completed the next day and we did not hear back from his office until two weeks later after I called multiple times and left many messages. After two weeks I received a call from his assistant stating that he looked at my Mom blood work and that she should continue taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen for the pain. I was shocked and really mad about how irresponsible that practice is and that Dr. Jacobs did not care or give a… crap about my mom situation, not even the courtesy of talking to me and explaining anything at all. I asked for a report about what he concluded about her case and I have received nothing. They are the worse place anyone could go to try to obtain any kind of treatment. He did not bother to say sorry there’s nothing I can do and if this is the only medication that works for your pain keep taking. No prescription or treatment provided nothing. Stay away from Dr. Jacobs and from Annapolis Rheumatology. They do not care.

Dr. Jacobs is a very kind and intelligent doctor. He took the time to listen to all my questions and carefully answered them honestly and with great compassion. He also gave me good medical advice. He's the best doctor I have.

My dermatologist recommended I see a rheumatologist and I chose Dr. Jacobs. Dr. Jacobs looked at me and said "are you here because you looked your symptoms up on the internet?" He spent maybe 5 minutes with me and said "if I was not better in 6 months to come back" I have never been so speechless by a physicians lack of interest or concern over my health. He truly wasted my time and not to mention the cost my insurance had to pay.

got an appointment within 2 weeks with this doctor-extremely warm and seems genuinely caring; he has a photographic memory as well - remembers minute things about my family and job- wonder if he writes down notes somewhere about these things- nevertheless i feel he knows a lot about me as a person after each visit; overall very very good practice;

I have been his patient for the past 3 years and the only reason i am writing now is because recently when i was ill, i called his office and left a message for the doctor informing them that I would miss my appointment - dr jacob not only rescheduled my visit but he actually came to visit me at the hospital just out of courtesy. He is very compassionate and caring.
