Dr. Ashok R. Shaha, MD

It’s been over a year since my surgery and I never had a chance to leave a review. From the moment I walked into Dr. Shaha’s office I knew I would have my surgery with him! His office staff was knowledgeable and compassionate and Dr. Shaha was extremely informative and comforting... including some humor which was much appreciated. My surgery went as expected and I was back up and about in a few weeks. Dr. Shaha is also meticulous when it comes to stitches and a year after no one even notices my scar... myself included! I 100% recommend Dr. Shaha and MSK!

Dr. Shaha is nothing short of amazing. He is brillint in the field of thyroid cancer and surgery and has 40 years of experience and has performed thousands of thyroodectomy’s. He knows everything there is to know about the thyroid and i know i am in extremely excellant hands with him. On top of his brilliance of the thyroid, he is funny, caring, compassionate, and accomodating. He is happy to help me and my family in any way and made us all feel better about my situaton of having thyroid cancer. I think those here who wrote about vocal cord and parathyroid issues may not have a full understanding of the thyroidectomy procedure. It is inevitable that your voice and parathyrois glands will be affected when taking out a thyroid, but it is much better than having cancer. You need to give your voice a chance to get back to normal after surgery. dr shaha explains this and abnormal thyroid function levels extensively before and after surgery. My scar is barely noticable, and he has always be… very blunt yet respectful. Do not hesitate to see Dr shaha for your thyroid, he is one of the best. thank you dr shaha and team (emily, rosa, christine, etc).

Not only he damaged my vocal chords and parathyroid glands while removing my thyroid... he jokes about covering your scar with diamonds, treating women like idiots, instead of listening to your medical concerns... Find another doctor!

We are eternally grateful for the care and expertise of Dr. Shaha when my husband's cancer returned in his mouth. We are also grateful for the excellent care and professionalism of the oncology dental clinic and speech therapy departments. Thank you all so much!

I had surgery on my foot 2 months ago at the Sloan Kettering cancer hospital.Only I can say is that everybody there were amazing. I decided to go back to check my thyroid .I went to dr Shaha. Since the first visit he was really rude.I had a biopsy of 3 of my nodules My second visit was to know the results of my biopsy. I was waiting for 31/2 hours.When I finally saw him he almost blamed the whole thing on me. And on top of that he didn't want to even explain the results to me. I think when you know you are going to have patients with cancer results you should schedule everybody's appointments around that. He made me feel very uncomfortable . I don't think a doctor should treat patients like the way he did to me I don't recommend this doctor at all But of course the hospital and people that works there are great.
