Dr. Ashwinii Hari-Kurapati, MD

My insurance company uses an outside company to assist in approving orders for radiology testing. This company is blue shield. Dr. Hari-Kurapati is NOT a radiologist, yet she was the one to deny my Doctor's request ( my doctor has been treating me for over 25 years and knows me and my body well. She wouldn't ever order an necessary test. I need an updated MRI of my cervical spine. The last one was in 2011. The denial letter states Dr. Hari. a-Kurapati "after review of the medical records that were sent to us, we are unable to approve this for payment." I have suffered from neck issues since I was a teen from a rear end car accident I was a passenger in the back seat and we were hit by a drunk driver going 65MPH while we were stopped to make a left hand turn. Now that I am in my late 50s my neck vertebrae are badly degenerated. I remained an athlete my entire life and keep my body strong. I have three fitness certifications and an advanced degree in biology. Anatomy and physiology… are my passion. I suffer from debilitating headaches caused by damage to the nerves. My neck is nearly 24/7 in spasm. I don't believe in western medication just to mask pain, I believe in giving the body the tools to heal and modalities like massage, acupuncture, exercise and mindfulness for relief. Of course desperate times demand desperate measures. Once in a while it's necessary to use western medicine for relief. If it was true that the "medical records were reviewed" this would not have been denied. Dr. Hari-Kurapati is negligent and causes undue pain an suffering to patients. She is getting paid from NEW York to sit at a screen and make decisions about my life. This practice should be banned. It bureaucracy at it's worst. My life is severely impacted by her negligence and greed.
