Dr. Atish Dhirubhai Patel, MD

8 JAN 2022, I went to Medical City Alliance, fearing I was having a stroke. After five tests, The E.R. Doctor informed me I had completed all the necessary tests but should stay in the hospital overnight for observation as a precaution. My night passed comfortably with no issues. By 11:30 a.m. I was ready to leave when a tech (?) told me I needed more tests. I declined to take additional tests. My husband and I wanted to go home. Five minutes later, a man enters my room and asks, "Just to be clear, you refuse to take the tests I ordered?" This man said nothing else but repeated his question, verbatim, four times. He ignored my relevant questions, asked after each repetition of his statement, and left the moment I confirmed I did not want additional tests. I felt verbally attacked; his behavior was atrocious, his anger almost palpable. We later discovered the man was my attending physician, Dr. Atish Patel. Other than Dr. Patel, I had not talked with a physician since leaving the… E.R. so I knew nothing about what had brought me to the hospital or if I was okay to leave. So as a result of Dr. Atish Patels' outrageous behavior, I left Med City Alliance without discussing a diagnosis, test results, warnings, expectations, meds, or necessary next steps. I feel Dr. Atish Patels' refusal to speak with me created a potentially dangerous situation and left me departing the hospital abandoned and frightened. If Dr. Patel had shown a shred of common courtesy or respect by introducing himself and discussing his orders, this situation would not have occurred. Instead, he sent a technician to inform me of new orders while we could clearly hear him in the hall chatting with the nurses.
