Dr. Atman Ushir Shah, MD

I took my dad to his appointment with Dr. Shah. The first time I had ever met this doctor. My Dad was extremely weak, in an unbelievable amount of pain and was anxious to hear what the doctor was going to do for him. Instead Dr. Shah walks in, sees that I have a notepad, I take notes at every doctors appts I attend. There were so many doctors and dad had so many other health issues, so much information to digest and to try to comprehend. We couldn't wrap our heads around it all. I also had my cell phone out. The doctor immediately addresses that if I am going to record the conversation, we could just leave, that he would not see us,for go somewhere else. I couldn't get a word in. He went on and on then turned his attention to my mom and dad. They had no idea what he was talking about. They had no experience with technology, smart phones, computers, nothing at all. Dr. Shah proceeds to say the same things to them. He was so consumed in the idea of someone possibly recording him, he… was unprofessional, arrogant, flip in comments, rude, I could go on. When the doctor finally realized we were there to get help for DAD and desperately needed hope....He looks at dad and says , "So what are we going to do with you?" My parents are loyal to their doctors, have complete faith in them and trust them. We were shocked. We sat there trying to process the conversation.We should have walked out but when you are in a desperate situation like this, when you're emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted...you have no idea of where to go or what to do. Sadly, a few months later my dad passed away. I pray no one else has to experience a doctor who acts like this.

The most arrogant doctor ever. Immediately put me on the defensive regarding my still taking a tiny bit of pain medication for my surgery which was only 2 weeks ago, dismissed chronic disease diagnosis by Mayo Clinic, interrogated ME about the credentials of one my doctors! Said my surgeon had no business telling me what to expect post lumpectomy. Only talked about chemo and radiation. Completely disregarded my increasing emotional distress. I will never subject myself to him again.
