Dr. Atul Sundar Shetty, MD

Dr. Shetty is good a good doctor, when he's available. For the most part he leaves his patients in the "care" of his staff. He may be a good doctor , but the women who work for him are a brood of incompetent cows. My mother is a diabetic and has been a patient of Shetty's for years. In that time she has had no problems with the doctor. His staff, on the other hand, are a different story. Starting with a rude, arrogant receptionist who cares more about busybodying around the office than tending to the patients—she scheduled my mother for an 11am appointment, but wrote down 9am in their system. She was rude to my mother and blamed her even though we have the card written out with the 11am appointment. She was also rude to me over the phone and acted like I was threatening violence when I said I wanted to come over to see the doctor for my complaint. "If you come over here that will be on you." Her words. The nurse practitioner has numerous times prescribed "medicine" to my mother… that she's either allergic to or cannot take because of her diabetes. Three different times she prescribed my mother the same type-2 diabetic medication even though my mother is a type-1 who cannot take it. They have a list of all my mother's allergens, but continue to make these "little" mistakes. The biggest problem we've had with this office began over three weeks ago. My mother needed to get re-approval for her diabetic testing supplies. Re-approval consists of the doctor signing a form and faxing it to our local pharmacy. In over three weeks his office has not been able to sign that form and fax it. THREE WEEKS! In the last three weeks I have visited his office physically three times, even offered to drive the form over. That offer was met with "We can't do that, but we'll have him sign the form today." He never signed. Also, I called countless days in a row. Sometimes multiple times a day—all efforts ran flat. As of writing this, they still have not sent that form. After getting the run-around for the better part of a month, I had my fill. Yesterday, I called in an attempt to get this done. First the rude receptionist said they accidentally sent the for to US Med, my mothers old service. I called us Med, they hadn't received anything from the office. I called back to the Doctor's office, I was then told they didn't send it to US Med, they sent the form to the Pharmacy the day before. I called the pharmacy, they hadn't received anything but, the man from the pharmacy was kind enough to tell me that as I was speaking to him the "Doctor's office just requested the form." After, calling the pharmacy I was livid, but still composed. I recalled the Doctor's office, to ask why it was taking so long, and why they just requested the form. The woman said they were busy. I told her three weeks for a fax wasn't busy it was incompetence. She then threatened to release my mother as a patient if I said that again and hung up on me. After that I was angry, I called back and called that woman every four-letter word under the sun and some I made up. I then talked to the Nurse practitioner, who I was stern with, but did not raise my voice, until she too threatened to release my mother as a patient. I do not like how these worthless cows try to lord over their patients with the threat of denied medical care. All in all, he may be a good doctor, but risking your or your family's health by chancing it on these worthless women is foolish. Their incompetence could very well lead to the death of one Shetty's patients and that will be on him. If I were you I would look elsewhere. It's just not worth it.

Dr. Shetty was my Dad’s doctor. He would not return any of my calls when I had questions about my Dad and he had little concern for my father’s problems. Switched doctors.

Dr. Shetty always listens to you and follows through with any problems that you are having He always goes above and beyond any expectations that I had when I started seeing him. With his knowledge and understanding , he has made my daily life so much easier .

Dr. Shetty is truly a blessing I have had my share of family doctors and I kept switching because no one would listen to me about my own care Dr. Shetty and staff are always so pleasant and listen to their patients and let us have a voice in our medical care.

I really liked Dr Shetty when I was in the hospital but when I went for my first visit I was disappointed tremendously. I waited almost an hour and when I finally was called back I was seen by the practionere who I thought was very cold and rude. I proceeded to tell her about my fall and how bad it was hurting (I was up all nites and couldn't sleep and a lot of pain) I was trying to tell her that I was taking medication for it and before I could finish what I was saying she said "We will not give u pain medication". Ok first of al ms personality I don't remember asking u to I was simply trying to tell u what I was going through. I'm sick of these doctors thinking that everyone that comes in is only looking for pain meds. there are times ppl actually need them or a different kind. I'm sure when they are in pain they don't suffer. I'm just not impressed with her at all and not sure ill go back. I didn't even see Dr Shetty. I signed up for him not ms no personality. I don't… mean to sound rude but I found her to be extrememly rude. Not sure if I want to go to him. thx

The front desk lady was rude, the nurse was friendly, the dr. was nice, he took his time with me, I appreciated that. The scheduler was the only one smiling. Clean and updated office.

Dr Shetty is very personable, knowledgable, and easy to talk to. His staff is so-so. It's almost impossible to get through to his office to make appointments--you always get his answering service. The nurse was nice but the receptionist acts overwhelmed and if they call in for an appt for a test or to see a specialist, they just loudly announce all your symptoms in front of everyone. Embarrassing.

Dr. Shetty is a very good doctor. Love his personality and bedside manner!!! he answers all questions/concerns , i never really feel rushed.. the only issue I have with my appt's is with his staff!! they are not very courteous nor helpful. You think since they chose to work in the health field, they would be somewhat sympathetic but thats not the case. His staff does not go out of their way AT ALL to assist me regarding questions/problems with my insurance. Everyones situation is different and we all have issues and its hard just in general balancing work/children and it would be nice if his staff took that into consideration . They dont want to nor have never even attempted to go a tiny inch out of their way to help me get my prior auth approved asap or try to schedule my appt sooner somehow.. I 've had to go without my medication for days because it required a prior auth and his staff only does those in mornings and she stated she does not have that much time to wait 'on hold'… cause mornings she tries to finish as many as she can.. well not everyone is short and sweet!! this is the job his staff chose to do, so they shoud be willing to do whatever they have to do , which at times to complete a prior auth, she may have to wait on hold for 10min. to get it done for THAT PATIENT!! thats not fair to me, I have to go without my medicine just because his staff didnt want to wait on hold that long.,,, another words the only patients that are going to have their medications on time are the ones that dont require any extra work/short quick prior auth's... its not fair. I work in the health field and I HAVE WORKED AT A DR OFFICE so i know how it works... i answered phones, called in medications/prior auth's etc.. I didnt just do them in the mornings because not all could be completed obviously, therefore, any extra time throughout the day, including MY LUNCH, I would finish the calls. Whether or not a patient has their medications is relying on his staff to complete her duties!! If they dont want to spend any free time/some of their lunch on phone finishing whats needed for Dr. Shettys patients then maybe this aint the job for them... You can still eat , have phone on speakerphone (waiting on hold), to call for prior auth's. It may not be what they really want to do but thats PART OF THAT JOB. Thats what it means to go out of your way to help someone, go that extra mile so a patient can have his/her medication asap . My ins didnt cover my medicine at one time, and when I called asking about assistance for certain med's, she said "NO, we dont do that, dont know who to call, you'll have to figure that out". REAL NICE!! She didnt even ask Dr Shetty if he knew anything or didnt offer to try and find any info on it, even knowing the troubles I was having paying for it. Anyway, I love him but my experience with his staff has never been helpful.
