Dr. Audria Kaye Black, MD

Dr Black came highly recommended. She is easy to talk to, seems genuinely interested in me, and is very personable. I’m really pleased with this referral.

Dr. Black went on vacation when my prescription was about to expire and did not renew it. She won't answer phone calls when out of town and I was without medication for four days. She continually blamed the pharmacist who bent over to help me. Then Dr. Black gave called in a script for an entire year (negligent, meds are often adjusted over time) and did not return any of my phone calls. She talked about herself during our visits, once asked me if I thought her shirt was appropriate for work - she stood up and turned around and asked me if it covered her butt. I've been in mental health care for 30 years, she's the worst psychiatrist I've ever had.

I saw Dr black for a few years around 2009 and had to move away. I realized after going through several other doctors that I just couldn't find one as good as her. So happy when I got to move back to Memphis. Dr. Black has been amazing. Because of her and her knowledge and knowledge of medicine, my life has become enjoyable again and I am able to function better than I thought possible. Thank you so much Dr. Black.

Dr. Black takes time to listen to her patients. I've been her patient for over a decade and never felt like I couldn't tell her anything. I can be honest with her and she doesn't judge me. When I leave her office, I feel like I've talk to a friend for 45 minutes, because she relates to me. She understands and never dismisses my grief or my illness. She truly cares about her patients. I moved away from Memphis, but still drive 2.5 hours to see Dr. Black. I recommend her to my friends.

Dr Black has been such a big help in treating my depression and anxiety. She and my therapist are wonderful. Don’t believe the people that may post anything else. I can understand how some couples get together. They feed off of each other.

I don’t know where I would be with out the help of Dr. Black. She has helped me through some of the hardest times. If you don’t feel comfortable on a med she takes the time to figure out a base plan and a plan B! She always finds a way to fit me in on her schedule when I need her sooner. Her office atmosphere is so relaxing (HGTV) playing as you wait?? I love that she takes the time to hear you out and improve your well being. I have been with her over 13 years and there is no one else out there like her. I highly recommend Dr. Black!??

My wife left an honest Yelp review of her experience with Dr. Black a couple of weeks ago. (Kara M. below) Every single appointment with Dr. Black left my wife distressed and hurt. I have been shocked by the inappropriate and careless things this woman has said to my wife at her appointments. She invalidated my wife's feelings. “I don’t see why you are depressed.” She continuously talked over my wife when she tried to share about her mental health. When she heard about my father's BPII diagnosis, life struggles, and eventual suicide she said: "I'm surprised he waited that long" and “When you hear about that you don’t even feel sorry for them” This woman is supposed to provide a trusted, safe space for people seeking help with sensitive issues. She has repeatedly shown she is incapable of providing this space for people. When my wife decided to stop seeing her we thought we were rid of this awful woman. But no. When she saw Kara’s review she called to confront and gaslight her. “I… never said those things.” And “That’s not what I meant” I am absolutely dumbfounded by this woman’s behavior. Calling your mental health patient to bully and harass them for a Yelp review??? Bottom line. Audria Black is a danger to Memphis. I am currently drafting a letter of complaint to the Tennessee Board of Examiners in Psychology as well as filing a complaint with the Tennessee Department of Health against Dr. Black. This woman needs to be held accountable for her behavior.

Dr. Black is a fantastic Psychiatrist! Her office is very neat and comfortable. Scheduling appointments is easy, and she has always returned my phone calls within 1 “business” day. Most importantly, I’ve never had to wait more than 10 minutes in the waiting room, and that is NOT common for most doctors’ offices in my experience. Definitely recommend!!

Dr. Black is an awesome doctor. She listens to everything word that's being said from her patient and interact with the patient to get to the problem. I greatly appreciate the work she does.

Dr. Black is a great psychiatrist and is very professional. I think very highly of her and respect her opinions as she respects mine. I have been her patient consistently for the last five years. She has listened and worked with me to find the proper medication that has helped me tremendously. She monitors my blood work to make sure my blood levels are in the safe range. I would highly recommend her to anyone, especially my family and friends!
