Dr. Ava Theresa Shamban, MD

Do NOT go here. The visit was a terrible experience, the doctor was too busy to see me, a new patient, and the PA missed my basal cell carcinoma. The follow up has been terrible since then and all they do is send me marketing emails. I read good reviews so made an appointment to go for an annual mole check. A physician's assistant came in and I asked if I was going to see Dr. Shamban. She said that the doctor is way too busy to see every new patient because she is "famous". She then proceeded to rush me through the appointment. It was 15 minutes long. I was worried about a mole on my leg so she recommended that I freeze it off and we did that. But I had a much larger spot on my lower abdomen and she said not to worry. It didn't look like anything to her. Cut to 5 months later and the spot on my abdomen seemed a little bigger and darker. I decided to go to a different dermatologist to get a second opinion. She did a skin biopsy and it came back as basal cell carcinoma. Thank goodness… I had an instinct to see someone else. In the meantime, the spot on my leg that had been frozen didn't go away. I called Dr. Shamban's office to mention this and they said that the PA forgot to tell me that I had to come back for a second visit to get it entirely removed. I had already been billed $130 for the first procedure and I was annoyed that the PA didn't tell me it would be as two step procedure. I called Dr. Shamban's office a couple of weeks ago to tell them about the basal cell carcinoma and the woman I spoke with, Joanna, was very nice and assured me that I would be hearing from Dr. Shamban directly to discuss my experience. That has not happened. No one has called me. Having your PA do a mole check and dismiss a large dark spot that turns out to be skin cancer is carelessness in the extreme. If you are too busy to see new patients, you should ensure you hire PAs who are better at their jobs. Then to not care enough to reach out to your patient after finding out this happened reflects an attitude of total disregard for human beings. I am completely shocked and appalled by how I've been treated by this practice and you should be too.

KarriAnn is an absolute delight to be treated by. She explains everything carefully, has a gentle touch, and makes sure I am comfortable the entire appointment. She cares deeply about the well being of her patience and it shines through in her work.

Robin is the simply the best of best. She took the time to thoroughly discuss the services I wanted during my visit. I appreciate that she was knowledgeable about the different options and I felt very comfortable with her.

Great facial amazing service

I've gotten laser hair removal on my underarms and legs, and treatment for cellulite. I can't properly convey the confidence boost from being able to comfortably wear sleeveless clothes and bikinis - it's been life-changing. The staff, but most notably my technician, KarriAnn, are some of the sweetest (not to mention highly qualified) people I've ever met, and have been an integral part of this great experience. I can't recommend Ava MD enough!

I've been seen by Taya for quite a while now. She is always excellent and lovely to work with. On my last appointment her work was stunning. I have lived with chronic unrelenting pain since 1997. For the first time in years the look of pain is gone from my face. I didn't think it was possible.

Staff was incredible. They were so much fun and knowledgeable. Answered every little question we had. I wish all offices had the level of competence and connection to patient care.

I am very happy with the result of the filler, I had dark circles under my eyes, and now it is much better. Dr Cris is excelent, since the first appointment until the follow up!

My daughter & I have been going here for a few years. It's a 2 hour drive from our hometown but 100% worth it. The staff is so friendly & knowledgeable. This last was with Dr. Simzar. Both he and the nurse Rene were wonderful. They took the time to listen to our concerns and address all of them. We left feeling confident with our treatments and that we are in good hands. The 2 hour drive (4 hour trip total) is well.worth it.
