Dr Avan J Armaghani, MD

I had one appointment with Dr. Armaghani in almost two years. She skipped appointments, leaving them to staff and refused to answer emails, leaving them to staff. She refused requests for appointments, and then fired me as a difficult patient because I wasn’t available, for medical reasons, when she felt like having an appointment. Radiology has the practice of sending radiology results to patients’ primary care because she has the habit of not reviewing, and not reporting, radiology results to patients. She tried to fire for not having had my mammogram completed on time, when in fact it had been done. I would utterly avoid this doctor, who must be the relative of someone important to keep a job.

I'd like to make clear that the overall experience with Moffitt itself is excellent; but this provider has been a horrible exception. After six months of care, with a potentially life-threatening diagnosis, I have seen Dr. A exactly ONCE. All subsequent visits have been with PA staff; some highly skilled, but not the doctor one expected, every other visit for follow-up. At initial consult, she presented as aloof, uncaring and defensive when questions were asked about treatment options. When I, a female patient, asked questions, she addressed her answers to my male partner. This was so marked that he commented, after the fact. At no time during an appointment of well over an hour did she communicate an attempt at comfort or empathy. Answers to e-mail inquiries were terse and seldom. Preventative measures to minimize collateral damages of chemo (cryotherapy) were put in place belatedly, after damage was done. Side effects treated poorly. Don't let this be you. Demand better care.

I greatly enjoyed and feel I benefitted from this appointment w Dr. Armaghani. She was very responsive to all my questions and clear in her explanations. She seemed less hurried than in our regular appointments. And it was great to see her without a mask :)

My experience with Dr. Armaghani was terrible. I did not feel heard or understood with her. She lacked communication and compassion with me. She ordered the wrong medication that was not part of my treatment plan. Overall I lacked trust in her. I ended up transferring from her care

She seems indifferent and not care. Find another doctor!
