I have been seeing Dr. Scheiner for a few years and he now remembers me and is more personable than when I first started going. That is a plus, but I don't really care that much about a doctor being my pal. What I have always appreciated about his practice is how well run it is and how competent he is as a dermatologist. I have never waited more than 15 minutes to see him and I would say the average wait time is below 10 minutes. These past few years I have had some serious skin cancers and he has always handled them well or referred me to specialists who have performed surgery with minimal scarring.

I have been to Dr. Scheiner for over a decade. He's not the chatty type, but that's fine. He recently did a biopsy on me and told me to expect a call with the results within 1 week. When a week came and went, I called the office for the results. I don't hold that against him as following up can easily slip through the cracks. I spoke with one of the staff and was told the results were positive. OK, so I had skin cancer. I asked to speak to to Dr. Scheiner and was told he was busy. Again, no problem. I asked for him to call me back and was told he would within an hour. When an hour passed, I called back and was told he had left. Bottom line, he never had the decency to speak with me. Needless to say, I won't be going back. I have no reason to think that he is not clinically competent, but in a city full of excellent dermatologists, why go to a jerk?

The office was busy, and the wait resonable.I had a biopsy that was cancerous, and when the biopsy came back to the office, they sat on it for 10days without contacting me--- there was no follow up until I called the office twice---to then ask them for the result. No one apologized--- from the doctor or office--- which was totally unaceptable.I then received a bill for the biopsy, and called the office, and they said they would take care of the charges of $96 because they didn't follow thru. Two months later, I got a call from the company who handles the receiveables for the doctor who analyzed the biopsy--- and Scheiners office hadn't even contacted them or paid the bill.I called Scheiners office and spoke with Carmen(who was the person who said they would take care of the charges initially), and she told me that it was not their problem.I have NEVER been to a doctors office that was as unprofessional as this office.I never got a call back from Scheiner re the mistake they made, and… was blown off by the office intirely.If the growth that was biopsied was benign--- then maybe I wouldn't have been so upset--- but for a doctors office to only be interested in taking someones money, and not even caring about the outcome---- is shameful!!!

One of the three dermatologists I have seen in NYC, and the best. Very on top things; very thorough. Practice is efficient. He doesn't waste a patient's time or insurer's money if there is nothing to do.

Find another doctor.

I had a miserable experience with Dr. Scheiner. I found him to be extremely dismissive, condescending and patronizing. He did not explain his diagnosis to me and when I had questions he basically turned and walked out of the room. He never explained to me how to use the prescribed medication and then he prescribed the wrong medication! When I called with questions, he refused to take my call and had his receptionists shuttle back and forth with answers. I left feeling abused and disrespected. His office staff were actually wonderful but he was a terrible terrible doctor.

if you want a doctor that luaghs at your complaints and makes horrible decisions for his patients, i suggest seeing this doctor

I've had this mole on my back for so many years, maybe decades, and he never ever even mentioned that it might need to be removed. One visit to a new dermatologist and she immediately removes it and I find out this morning that it turns out it's severely dysplastic (meaning pre-cancerous melanoma and spreading) and I need to have surgery next week to remove all of it with stitches and everything and I'm going to have a 2 or 3 inch scar smack in the middle of my back. This is the same thing he did to my mom too! She had some things he never thought to remove that turned out to be cancerous! One being that thing on her nose that spread so much before he bothered to biopsy it she had to have a big chunk of her nose cut off and skin grafted from behind her ear onto her nose! What were we paying him all these years to do when we went in for skin checks?!?! What if I never went to this new doctor?? It could have developed into full-blown skin cancer and spread all around my body! I… could have developed skin cancer because of him! and now I'm going to have a scar in the middle of my back because of him! If he had just taken 2 mins to remove it years ago I wouldn't be having any problems right now! Same with my mom too! She has it worse than I do with that huge part of her nose that had to be removed and also a big scar on her back now. What does he think he gets paid to do?!?! It's scary to think that one doctor's negligence might have lead to both my mom and I developing cancer if we didn't switch to this new doctor.
