Dr. Aviel Goodman, MD

Aviel Goodman was a horrible person and a terrible doctor. He was reckless in his prescribing and caused a lot of harm. Many lives were destroyed by this person, including his own. Hopefully, myself and others hurt by him will heal now.

He is a convicted felon.

The Department of Justice has taken down a vicious pedophile psychiatrist in Minnesota, Dr. Aviel Li Goodman, as part of the DOJ’s Operation Safe Childhood, who federal investigators say was found in the possession of more than 20,000 files of child pornography.

This is more of a respose to a previous review. I was in therapy with Dr. Goodman for over two years, weekly and sometimes more. He is intent, focused and when the session was over he made notes. My work was psychodynamic psychotherapy and is client focused rather than counseling and giving advice. It enabled me to find my own direction which was more meaningful than having him tell me how to solve a problem. He would offer what I call, guide posts to help me discover themes in my life and direct me down a path to discovery of self. I highly recomend Dr. Goodman to anyone seeking psychodynamic therapy.

I feel like he, like most therapists, doesn't quite realize that he's good for what he's good for and can't fix everything. I felt like he did more sitting there and nodding than actual helping. I made it pretty clear (I think) that I needed to do more than talk and even when I asked him directly for opinions or input or feedback that he didn't really say anything and just kind of looked at me. He doesn't keep a notepad, doesn't write things down, and doesn't remember anything about you from one appointment to the next. This causes some insensitive things to get said that I feel he wouldn't think were okay to say if he actually kept track of who you were from one visit to the next.
