Excellent physician. Really helped me straighten out my medication. I am doing so much better. Professional and very well trained. Highly recommended.

After years of trying to find a good doctor, and having one now, I need to share that everyone should stay away from Dr Mitra. He is all about making money, and does not care about his patients.

I do not recommend Dr. Mitra to anyone. First of all, he is extremely unprofessional. He leaves his door open during sessions and everyone can hear his conversations with patients, and leaves his filing cabinet open in the waiting area. He does tend to be accomodating with scheduling appointments. However, he doesn’t care about his patients at all. I would rather rearrange my schedule to see someone who cares ahout their patients. Dr. Mitra never remembered anything from our previous sessions and would always put me on inappropriate medication or take me off something without tapering me first. He would make rude comments or jokes about other patients during our sessions. He also never charged me copays for some reason and then tried to give me an envelope after years asking for all the money. I would go anywhere BUT here for a psychiatrist.

My daughter has been seein Dr Mitra for some time and she really enjoys seeing him and the results have been super!

Really helped in crisis. Was kind, respectful. Took time to listen to my concern and discuss my problems. Medication regimen from prior physician was simplified with great result.

He is a excellent doctor and a good man. He is being trolled by the losers below for not giving them meds blindly. Addicts don't get their need met and they trash the doctor. He is a Columbia University, Mayo Clinic and Yale University trained physician. He has helped and continues to help my son who has Severe Autism.

Terrible doctor. He doesn't even remember the medication that I am on and I have only been seeing him since 2014. I was out of my medicine for a week, called him repeatedly to get a prescription, only to have him pick up a week and a half later.... AND I STILL DO NOT HAVE MY MEDICATION.

I saw Dr. Mitra after being discharged from YNHH. He often made offensive jokes about psychiatric patients. He titrated my medication so slowly that after four months I still wasn't even at a therapeutic dose (according to the doctor I switched to). He never considered changing my medication. I had a trip the ER and he never followed-up. He kept his file cabinet outside his office and left it open. Totally unprofessional. I wouldn't recommend Dr. Mitra, if you want to consider him a doctor.
