Dr. Axel Kenneth Olson, MD

Dr. Olson always takes the time to listen. If you ever have to wait, it is because he was listening and sharing with the patient before you the same way he will when you walk in the room and that is an undervalued commodity time. So many times you are rushed through and get home and think you should have said something you didn’t but you are way less likely to have that issue with Dr. Olson. He truly cares for his patients and wants you to follow his lead but itakes your thoughts and concerns into account and will adapt your care accordingly when possible . He has been there for me and my family so many times that I have lost count. They don’t really make many doctors like him anymore. He puts so much time into helping improve my quality of life. I am just going to be lost if he ever retires.

I was a patient of Dr. Olson for a little while. My experience seeing him was not good. I could not get on the same page with him. I got really tired when he would say one thing, but do the opposite. He would also say things, but not remember it. For example: he said he would write a prescription for me to sleep. I asked for it before he discharged me from the hospital, but he said he never said anything about a prescription. I did not like how Dr. Olson would get up and leave the room to answer his phone to another patient in the middle of our conversation. I tried to follow the treatment plan he gave me, but he was super unhappy that I did not try harder. Dr. Olson became really rude when my mom got involved in my treatment process. He did not like the idea of my mom helping me, but I wanted/needed my mom’s help. He would give me choices and every time I picked what I preferred, he would not like it... even though he suggested it. The last time I talked to Dr. Olson, he was rude… over the phone. When I answered the phone, he told me we needed to get on the same page. He was upset/mad with me because I went behind his back and had a medical clearance done. He said he would do it, but I waited over a week and nothing was done. He called once and said he would look through the paperwork and see what needed to be done. I understood he was super busy, but he said he had time to do it for me... especially since it needed to get done ASAP. When I explained that I took care of it, he said, “I guess you don’t need my help anymore.” I told him I did not mean to hurt him, and he said I did not, but he sounded like it. At the end of the conversation, he told me I was not welcomed back in his office... which was fine. It was just weird how he treated me and his attitude towards helping me was a lot different than my other doctors. I would not recommend Dr. Olson.
