Dr. Ayanna Janell Brown, MD

The office staff is rude. I’ve been yelled at, hung up on, called a liar. It’s like there is no communication between the doc and the nurse practitioners because every time I had an appointment I had to spend time repeating the same things I’ve said before. One of the NP’s told the front desk lady to tell me I’d have to wait 2 more days for my alprazolam but to help go ahead and up my Zoloft to 200mg. I’ve already told her I cant function like that or take care of my kids but she didn’t care. And how do you tell your receptionist to just tell me to up my dosage? Shouldn’t the doc call and tell me that? I dont know if they need all new staff or to lower the number of patients they have but something needs to be done.

I have had a very bad experience with Dr Ayanna Brown. I cannot recommend.

You're only gonna see the bad reviews and never the good ones, here's a good one. I have been going to Brownstone for two years, I have seen 4 other providers in the area, and Dr. Brown and her team are as good as it gets in Houston. Not only is the team warm and compassionate, but its definitely a family environment. I look forward to my visits with Dr. Brown or the NP and have never been in a better place mentally than before seeing them. You can also actually see a provider in her office this year compared to other providers. People complain about her office policies, but in the end it is a practice and business. Show up to your appointment, take your medicine as described, and don't hide anything from them.

Very responsive team. Dr. Brown called me back personally and spent time talking with me via phone regarding my medications and the best plan of action for effective administration. I never feel rushed when I go to the office. The staff are very polite and helpful. I have a great client/provider relationship with the nurse practitioner. The nurses are very knowledgeable.

Frequently had problems booking appointments due to the office phones being disconnected on multiple occasions and her office staff made me pay the full fee for service rather than just my copay because they do not understand insurance billing. I had to take my insurance explanation of benefit forms in and her office had to pay me over $300 dollars due to them overbilling me illegally.

The office staff was very polite. The practitioner eagerly offered me medication even though I stayed I was open to alternative ways to deal with my attention span. The prescription I was given was for a name brand drug that my insurance would only accept the generic version. I called the office to get help and no one called me back. I will ultimately cancel my other scheduled appointment. This is discouraging since I wanted to go to a woman of color since I believe she would have been more relatable.

Absurdly long wait times! Plus, they just write me perscription, which is not what I was looking for. I want a personalized experience where I feel like they care! Plus, I haven't met a psychiatrist here yet, only the nurses. I want to see someone who has years of experience and knowledge. Given that I was in their office for two hours for a 15 minute meeting (even though it was scheduled as an hour meeting), I felt I was being ripped off.

My daughter, Cheyenne May is a patient and has been WITHOUT her medication for 3 days. She just came and saw me and was in a terrible state. Stop messing around and do your jobs. If need be, I will call the state board and file a complaint. Does Dr Brown know what a lazy staff she has??? If so, changes need to be made. As a nurse, I was appalled at my daughter's condition. Get it together!!

Don't go to this place!! It's terrible!!!

When you first go to her office, you have to meet with a holier-than-thou intake "nurse" who jots down your background and makes snide comments about your life. Then you see Dr. Brown, who can't be bothered to pay attention to anything you say. She'll give you a generic SSRI, but when you need a refill she's "on vacation" and can't be reached. Then Dr. Brown pushes you to see the therapist in her office, who they call "Dr. Chan" but trust me, that guy is NOT a doctor and has the therapeutic value of a potato. Everyone associated with that office needs to GROW A SOUL.
