Do not see this doctor for Type 1 Diabetes or any form of diabetes. Not qualified. Sounds like she has moved into nebulous area of supplements since I left office.

If you’re looking for an endocrinologist RUN away from this one. Very unprofessional and accused me of not taking a medication she prescribed me! I did all the things she asked me to do! She over prescribed my thyroid medication that threw me into hyperthyroidism. She didn’t care one bit! As previous patients had said, she scans you into buying all the supplements and does not care about her patients she is treating for thyroid issues! I’m finally being treated by a REAL endocrinologist and I’m feeling my best! Do not give this fake endocrinologist any of your time or money! She should be reported!!!!

Dr. Akbar came across as unfriendly & doesn't even make eye contact. She prefers for you to just listen & follow her directions without any input or questions. I asked a nurse if I had done something wrong & was told "No, other patients have asked the same question & she's like that with staff too." Once I knew what my numbers from labs were, I asked her about them & all she said was "They're right where I want them." My B-12 & my testosterone levels were very high. She advised me to have pellet insertion with testosterone anyway & also asked if I wanted a B-12 shot! My GP advised me to stop seeing her & to stop taking all supplements, etc. she had sold me. I'm now seeing a 'real' Endocrinologist who has stated that she & other 'real' Endocrinologists wind up cleaning up her messes. I believe she's in this Anti-Aging section of medicine to make money & doesn't really care about the true health of her patients. I feel I was scammed out of a LOT of money at the cost of my health,… possibly. My new doc has ordered a slew of labs & wants me to 'detox' so we'll know for sure if I'm okay after being treated by Akbar. I beg all women out there who are lured by her promises of youthfulness to rethink their decision. Yes, the BioT pellets DID help with my libido, but at what cost? Beth Pfrommer

Dr. Akbar could not be bothered to answer my questions or even give me her medical opinion. She just told me to "google it" and seemed annoyed when I tried to ask anything further. She offered no explanations and no medical advice. Horrible bedside manner. Then when talking about medications she told me to "google" a medication to decide if I want to take it. What is the point of seeing her if I'm just supposed to consult google for medical decisions? Clearly she does not care. I will not be returning. I recommend looking elsewhere if you want any kind of medical care.

Her office never answers the phone, they barely call back. She doesn’t listen to anything the patient has to say, she’s only made the conditions worse and put me on overpriced medication that does nothing. She needs to lose her license!!

Dr. Akbar has been treating me for Endocrine issues for almost 20 years. She is knowledgeable,patient, and concerned with the right plan and medications for your condition.

Unprepared, unethical and rude. Go there and find out for yourself. This woman should not be practicing medicine.

I have been a patient with Dr Akbar since 2004. Her approach is to help her patients eat better and make better choices to improve their health. I am grateful for her straight forward no nonsense approach!

If there was a ZERO that is what she would get!!! Receptionist, nurses, ad Dr. are all very rude!!! At my age I do not need her attitude!

They NEVER answer the phone, and she has no empathy at all!!
