Dr. Ayman Taha Aboulela, MD

I had my first appointment with Dr. Zawahry June 3, 2024. She prescribed all of the medications that I was currently taking. The next appointment was August 12, 2024. It was a followup appointment for my blood work. She started talking to me about my medications. She didn't like the Quetiapine and Baclofen that I had been on for several years. She wanted me to take a sleeping pill. I explained to her that I didn't feel the need to change medications because what I was taking was working for me and has been for years. The next appt. was a phone call. Sept. 25, 2024. She called me and told me to start taking a new medication Eszopiclone 3mg. She also instructed me to stop taking Quetiapine and Baclofen. I went to the pharmacy Oct. 5, 2024 and picked up the Eszopiclone 3 mg. I followed her instructions that night and the next night. It's very hard to put into words what was happening to my body over the next 3 days. First of all I didn't get any sleep at all. I suffered from… extreme leg cramps. I shook internally for 24 hours straight. The second day, my entire body locked up. I started feeling detached from my body on the car ride to the doctors office Monday Oct. 7, 2024. I wanted to explain what was happening to me in hopes to get help. I waited as long as I could, I became nauseous and had to leave. A couple hours later, Dr. Aboulela was calling me, explaining that Dr. Zawahry was not in the office, could he help me. I explained what was happening to me and he asked me to trust him. He prescribed me a different medication Temazepam 15 mg. He also gave me back the Baclofen. His instructions were to take the Temazepam 15mg. and the Baclofen for sleep. I went to pick up the medication. I read the Medication Guide. The very first sentence said: This medication is to treat insomnia. Recommended to take 1-2 weeks. That is the same information on the Eszopiclone 3mg. I've not been diagnosed with insomnia. So, I made the decision to not take the Temazepam 15mg. I got back on my regular medications that I've been taking for years. Oct 28, 2024 was my next appt. with Dr. Aboulela. I explained to him that I was not going to take that medication and why. He informed me that Temazempam 15mg. was for long term use. I explained that I didn't want to be on a controlled substance. That would make me have to get blood tests every 3 months. Dr. Aboulela informed me he would no longer be my doctor if I didn't take what he prescribed. He did not listen to me at all. Needless to say I was very upset when I left his office. I had to sit in the parking lot in my car for over 30 minutes trying to calm down after that horrible experience. Dr. Aboulela was suppose to renew my prescriptions. He would not. I only had a week left of all my meds, so I needed to find a doctor right away. I called Stephen Johnson FNp-Bc. I spoke with Doloris. I spilled everything that had just happened to me. She put me on a brief hold, she said, Can you be here at 2:00? I started to cry, finally, a compassionate doctor. This was the best decision He's wonderful. He didn't have a problem with any of my medcations. He spent over an hour with me. Stephen did caution me about abruptly stopping medications. I did alittle research on stopping Baclofen. Hallucinations, delirium and seizures and death. If you stop taking Quetiapine. Hallucinations, delusions, and psychosis. Needless to say I had a horrible experience under these 2 doctors care.

I was upset with the front desk employee. I wanted to get my mother in to see the doctor as a new patient. I had heard very good reviews of the doctor from friends. I was told by the front desk employee that they could not even schedule an appointment until they had the history paperwork. So they emailed me a PDF copy of it. We were out of town at the time and would be returning in a a few days. I filled out the paperwork and could not save the PDF file or figure out a way to send it back to them in the email because it would reset and empty all the information reverting back to a blank copy. So I ended up sending them back screen shots of each page in the email. I called them the next day and they said that it was to hard to read so I would have to resubmit. I had no problem doing that but asked if I could go ahead and schedule her appointment then bring in the paperwork. She said that they had to have it prior to the appointment so I assured her that I would bring it in several… days before our appointment. She flat refused. This meant that instead of a two week wait to see the doctor it was going to be 3 to 4 weeks to get my mom in to see him. I have decided to find a different doctor because if they are this inflexible now I can't imagine how bad it could become in the future. They appear unable to deal with customers on a case by case basis.

I was previously diagnosed at TAFB Hospital as having Hypertension for over 10 years. I was given Toprol XL, Micardis, Lisinopril, & HCTZ. My BP still elevated between 180/100 despite taking all this BP meds. After seeing Dr. A. Aboulela & Dr. Hudaihed my BP stayed 130/78 taking only Aldactone 25 mg once a day. My high BP is due to hyperaldosteronism. All the BP meds from TAFB Hospital were discontinued. Thank you Dr. Aboulela & Dr. Hudaihed for a job well done & for caring.

I was taken back to the exam room where I waited to see the Dr. for over an hour and a half. Then my phone rang. It was the front desk calling to tell me I missed my appointment. I explained I couldn't miss it since I was in the office.

He's been my doctor for about 5 years and I always feel like he really listens, is respectful, has a nice sense of humour and seems to really care. I feel the same about his nurse practitioner, Linda Drinkard, she is very easy to talk to and instills trust. The office staff are friendly and always helpful - they always make you feel like more than just a patient.

After waiting 25 minutes outside for them to show back up from lunch, I was told they did not take walk-ins. The door said closed for lunch from 12:00-1:30, and they didn't return until 1:55. The door also said walk-ins welcome. What a joke of a business. Must be nice to get almost two hours for lunch!

Wait time is minimal. Followups well. Spends time with patient. Listens well. Staff is very nice. THANK YOU. Keep up the good work.

Dr aboulela is a horrible Dr that did not take the time to properly treat me in a professional manner. the Dr showed no emotions towards my reason for being treated by him and he had also made false reports about me. I do not abuse alchohol nor do i drink any as the DR had stated in his reports. the DR did not add to his report the reason why I was being treated by him and then out of no-where quit on me with-out recommending any other Dr while on medications that needed to be monitored. Thank you for nothing Dr Aboulela as I have had many problems with finding another Dr to treat my condition. If you took an oath to help people who are sick then you need to do just that and not give up on anyone who believes in you because you truly let me down and disgusted me with your so called professionalism, which to me means nothing. Hope you dont treat others the way that you had treated me and that was horribly wrong.
