I’m writing this review as a physician myself, with deep disappointment and concern. Someone close to me had one of the most distressing and invalidating experiences with the on-call doctor they were routed to through Kaiser while seeking urgent help for their mental health. After spending the entire day being redirected between departments, they finally got on the phone with this physician to discuss ongoing struggles with depression. They explained that a therapist had recommended trying medication. Instead of offering support or guidance, the doctor completely shut them down, calling the request “inappropriate” without asking questions, showing concern, or trying to understand the situation. The person on the phone broke down crying — emotionally exhausted and in need of care — and this physician responded with zero empathy. No compassion, no validation, no help. Just dismissal. This level of coldness and disregard is more than just disappointing — it's dangerous. Mental health is… medical health, and treating someone like this when they are reaching out for help can worsen their condition. This doctor is a clear example of the kind of provider who perpetuates stigma and harm in medicine by failing to take mental health seriously. He should absolutely be reevaluated as a physician. No one in a vulnerable state should be exposed to this kind of treatment. If you are struggling with depression or mental health concerns, avoid this provider — your well-being deserves to be taken seriously.
