Dr. Balasubramaniam S Viswanathan, MD

On my first appointment he was told I had surgery for breast cancer. He said that it would not be a problem. He made no further inquires and hurriedly left the room to deal with another patient. During surgery he made 4 incisions and pumped my body cavity full of CO2 which he explained later had been removed except for about 10% which would gradually escape on its own. He prescribed pain medication that lasted 3 days and refused to refill the prescription. I was told to take Tylenol Extra Strength. The pain was so severe I was screaming. He is incompetent.

My 91 year old mother was recently treated by Dr. Vish. He has an excellent bedside manner and great compassion for his patients. He made my mother feel very comfortable about her surgical procedure. I definitely would refer him to anyone who is looking for a knowledgeable surgeon, especially with breast surgery.

My son was experiencing severe pain in lower back which I suspected was a polinidal cyst due to his non-visible symptoms. After being seen at an urgent care (great doctor Mayer there) Dr. Viswanathan was recommended for immediate consult. We were seen in the same day within a couple of hours and Dr. Viswanathan had excellent bedside manner. He suspected the same issue and knowing surgery was inevitable, got my son schedule for surgery the next morning. Fantastic as my son could not tolerate even walking from so much pain. Surgery went very well and quick. The incision was very clean and now he has begun the recovery process. Dr. Viswanathan personally called today (two days post surgery) to check on him and answer questions. I highly recommend him.

Excellent surgeon

This doctor puts pressure on you to have surgery. Get another doctor opinion first. His gallbladder surgery caused me to developed a belly hernia which was a result of his gallbladder surgery he did on me. he denied it of course and said I developed hernia from allergies. I am not overweight and other doctors stated it developed as a result of his surgery. Now, I have to get hernia surgery which he for sure is not doing. dont let him pressure you. I am upset and mad I have to have another surgery because of him

When a patient presents with a big mass on a lymph node, I feel you should discuss it and the options of what to do and how to treat it. All he did was lecture us about insurance, when we have been trying to get insurance for years, and can't even get it under the affordable care act. He even told us to make up income to qualify for affordable care. My husband is a PhD student, so we fall in the gap that can't get covered. Life is stressful enough without a doctor who won't help you and even encourages you to commit insurance fraud. We are not going back, and I do not recommend him.
