Dr. Barbara A Fleetwood, MD

Dr. Fleetwood is very thorough and quick to refer if a symptom is not in her field. I am 85 and she has had a huge part in keeping me healthy for over 15 years.

Dr. Fleetwood is an excellent family doctor. She is dedicated to finding the cause of things. She is extremely knowledgeable. She explains findings and treatments in simple terms. More than that, she cares about the whole person. She treats individuals with dignity and respect.

I have used Dr. Fleetwood for over 13 years. She treats me like a partner in my own health care, explaining why she chooses a treatment option. She take time with her patients and always makes sure she addresses all of my concerns before she finishes. She has called me at home to follow-up. I also like Dr. Fleetwood because she does not over prescribe medications.

Terrible family doctor. I took my son in to the doctor for what seemed to be just a cold (he was about to leave to his dads for a week so wanted to make sure that's all it was). She said that it was a cold, that if really wanted her to, she could prescribe me a cough medicine and that if it gets worse to bring him back. I asked her what would be considered worse and she said "your his mom, you should be able to tell". That was all I got. She is terrible with kids, didn't try at all to put my son at ease when he was nervous. When he would lean away cause he wasn't sure what she was doing, she just stared at me waiting for me to do something. Then she started crying and didn't say a word to him, just sat there waiting for him to stop. He didn't. After I sent my son to his dads, his dad took him to the doctor 2 days later and he had a ear infection and a bad sinus infection. My friend also went to her a few times before her daughter failed a hearing test at school, so she took both her… kids to a pediatrician that said both her kids ears had a lot of fluid in them and she was then refered to a ear,nose,throat doctor. The fluid was what was causing her daughters hearing loss (both had to get tubes in their ears). HOW does a doctor not see that! To top it all off, I hurt my back and went to her because she would take me without insurance. I paid after every visit and did not realize I still owed $40. I got a letter in the mail a few weeks ago saying she could no longer be my doctor or my childs. Of the $260 I paid off immediately, she won't take my SON because of $40, which was paid off immediately upon reciept of the notice. I'm more then happy to find another doctor though. I kept taking him because she was the only one that said they took medicaid when I moved up here and he's no longer on medicaid. Over all, she doesn't seem like a good doctor at all but she definitely should not be a family doctor!

Having just moved to the area and in need of a general practitioner, I made an appointment at this clinic and was assigned Dr. Fleetwood. As I did not know any of the doctors in the town, I initially had no problem with taking any doctor was available. I now regret that decision because I was very discouraged by by Dr. Fleetwood's poor bedside manners and overall negative attitude toward me as a patient. I felt that I was criticized rather than helped, and this discouraged me from returning to the clinic. Instead, I chose a doctor at the university and have since had successful treatment for a chronic condition.
