About Dr. Barbara Galera
Education:Dr. Galera earned her Doctorate in Dental Science and Bachelor of Science in Dental Materials from the prestigious University of California at San Francisco. She also holds a second Bachelor of Science from the University of California at Berkeley in the field of Nutrition and Food Science.
Experience: Dr. Galera has been providing dental care to families in Alameda for over a decade. She began her career as a dental assistant in 1987. In 1993 she opened her own practice which has been a trusted source for quality dentistry ever since. Dr. Galera is dedicated to continuing education and stays up to date in the latest technological advances. She participates in advanced courses and supports her staff in ongoing training in order to give you the smile you’ve always dreamed of having.
Community Service: Dr. Galera not only serves her community professionally, she is an active participant during her personal time. She enjoys hosting an annual field …trip from Lum School to her office. Kids get to touch and feel dental equipment and instruments. They come away less fearful of the dental office. She also donates dental services to the disabled and a battered women's shelter through a non-profit organization sponsored by the Alameda County Dental Society. She raised over $6000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in honor of her father by running the Maui Marathon in 2002.
Dr. Galera enjoys spending time with her family when not in the office. She studies the Wado Ki Kai style of Karate with her daughters. She maintains a healthy balance by running throughout the year and enjoys downhill skiing in the winter.
