Dr. Barbara Ruth Hostetler, MD

Dr. Hostetler preformed a hysterectomy that had major complications. She supposedly removed tumors and cut my bowel, which I didn't even know about til months after. The hysterectomy did nothing for my problems and I still have my monthly. Another doc told me she had never heard of that. She said the only thing she can think of is that, she didn't fully remove my cervix. I had major problems with extreme bleeding for months afterward. I called her office almost everyday with concerns for almost a year and she never ever called me back. After the surgery I never spoke to or seen her again. I believe she messed up big time and didn't want to deal with any of it, so she just ignored me. Horrible Horrible Doctor!

Dr. Hostetler was the doctor on call and delivered my first child. It was a nightmare. After "failure to progress", she recommended trying forceps. She said she would give me an epidural first. She didn't. I have no idea why. Before I knew what was happening she had her foot up on the table and was trying to pull my son out. The pain was so bad I couldn't even speak. She wasn't successful and said I needed a C-section. I was given an epidural but it didn't work. I could feel her cutting. I told her over and over that I could feel it but she wouldn't respond. I remember trying to sit up but I was strapped down. The anesthesiologist finally made her stop and put me under general anesthesia. It caused some major PTSD. I have no idea why this women is practicing medicine. She is completely without compassion. Run from this woman.

I would recommend Dr. Hostetler to any one who would ask for an amazing Doctor! When I had my daughter she made sure that she was there for the delivery - she even spent the night at her office! That just goes to show how much she cares about you!

After my first appointment, I left her office feeling relief. I felt like I finally had met a doctor that listened to what I wanted and what I didn't want. After my next couple of appointments my short lived relief vanished and I was back at square one. I was diagnosed with endometreosis a few years ago and had already had 1 surgery with my previous doctor. She insisted we did another so I agreed. After my surgery it just went down hill. As far as follow ups go, there was none. I made it clear that I can not take narcotics. She told me they'd give me a pain reliever that was narcotic free. That didn't happen. I was given narcotics. Thank goodness I was able to go to my family doctor and get the care I needed. Also prior to surgery we had discussed if something other than what was planned came up what the plan of action would be. She was to notify my mom who was in the lobby. That did not happen as well. She called in another doctor and did as they pleased. After I recovered we… discussed a treatment plan. Her nurse was awful at getting back to me or ordering the medicine I needed. Again I placed calls to my family doctor's nurse who thankfully repeatedly called Dr. Hostetler's office to get some results. This was beyond frustrating. The last appointment I had with Dr. Hotsetler was a recap of me talking about what we had talked about in previous appointments. I'm not asking a doctor to know and remember everything about me, but at least skim my file before you walk in the door and act like you know me.
