Dr. Barbara Lynne Phillips, MD

I have always had a good visit and informed office visit with Dr. Phillips. She takes time to listen to my husband and my questions. My husband had recently read about a less evasive brain surgery. We talk ed to her and with more information have decided to have the surgery. She has been a lifesaver for me and I can never thank her enough.

Dr. Phillips was possibly one of the rudest doctors I've ever seen. I was having seizures due to medication interactions and stress. She kept asking specific questions about the first seizures and getting visibly agitated when I couldn't answer or would try to answer to the best of my ability with a related incident. (I.e. did i wet the bed the first time? no, but the second time, I did. Then she would snap at me that she was only asking about the first seizure.) After talking to me for maybe ten minutes, she offhandedly commented "wow, you really hold onto things, don't you?" in regards to me bringing up my mother's abuse and my PTSD because of this. She essentially told me that the seizures are my own fault, and my only solution was to go and "learn to let things go". I was already working with a counselor every other week to deal with my PTSD and depression, and I guarantee you that her comments made me much more likely to not let those go, either. Frankly after my first (and last)… appointment with Dr. Phillips, I went out to my car and just cried. It was a humiliating experience to be told my body's reactions to my medications and stress (as I learned from a DIFFERENT neurologist later,) were simply my own fault, especially because she had a medical student shadowing her who took my vitals and administered a few tests. (I do not remember ever being asked if I consented to his presence, seeing as I'm female. It didn't bother me, but I'm sure it would make others uncomfortable.) During that time, she aggressively corrected him while using me as a prop for his learning, which put me even more on edge. Overall my visit was honestly one of the worst I've experienced. If you're looking for a doctor that cares about her patients' well-being and respects mental disabilities, Dr. Phillips sure isn't for you.

Her diagnosis was right on. The manner of treatment - well, that's another issue. She told me my benign tumor had returned, but that the only thing to do was wait until it was larger and then open up my skull again to operate. What she didn't tell me was that another doctor in the same office was doing laser surgeries to remove tumors just like mine. I found that out by going on the internet to research my condition. When I had a follow up visit, I asked her why I wasn't a candidate for the laser surgery being performed by her fellow doctor. She was completely rude and treated me as if I had insulted her. Stay away from this one.

Dr. Phillips is awesome! She cares! She takes extra time when needed to ask the questions, give advice but never makes you feel like you are taking too much time. Her rapport with my son is solid and he totally trusts her but she gives him the information then allows him to be a decision maker when the opportunities arise.

This was one of my worst experiences with doctor that I have ever had. Ms. Phillips, in my opinion, was very rude and unprofessional. She seemed more interested in gouging my insurance company than giving me the correct diagnosis. Which was that I was fine. I'm still doing well without the $10,000 treatments that she suggested. Good luck with this one and watch your wallet.

I was nervous because i was seeing a doctor and I was from out of town. The receptionist was kind and courteous. I think i waited for about 5-10 minutes. Dr. Phillips approached she didnt have the bedside manner I was use to @ the begining. It took me a couple of minutes to warm up to her. I can tell she was determine to get details and make an accurate diagnosis. Her office seem cold and uninviting. I think she goo at what she does she just need to warm up a little. Make her patients feel at home!
