Horrible doctor. Saw my daughter for two visits to get her started on a accutane. Left the practice abruptly, perhaps she was fired, and all of my daughters paperwork is no longer available so we have to do everything over. She didn’t submit anything and the office tells me it’s possible she shredded our paperwork. Should have known after reading her poor reviews.

As most reviews state (except those most likely written by her staff or friends) doctor vail is rude, condescending and lacks empathy. She is personally offended if you ask a question about very real side effects of medications. If you stand up for yourself she will refuse to see you again after making you drive to the practice and wait 40 minutes. See any other doctor.

I went to Barbara Vail several times and each time felt extremely rushed. This practice is located in my hometown, however I went to college about an hour away. They would always pressure me to pre-schedule appointments, but I would always tell them that I would have to wait until I was home on break. I had not gone to her office for about a year since none of the products she prescribed me made even a slight difference in my skin. I received a call THE DAY before my graduation telling me that I had an appointment for the day after I graduated (when I was still living an hour away and would not be home for months). I called to tell them that I did not make this appointment and would not be present because I was not in the area. About a week later I received a charge for a cancelled appointment. Upon calling them, I was met with the most disrespectful man telling me that I was a liar, that I made this appointment A YEAR ago (which I would never do), and that they would take me to court… for not paying their (way overpriced) cancellation fee. He was so mean that he made me cry. I refuse to put my money towards a place that 1. disrespects their customers and makes them feel awful and 2. rushes through appointments and prescribes topicals that NEVER work. I now drive an additional 20 minutes to another, much better dermo just so I don’t have to go to Barbara Vail.

this practice is really not worth a visit, terrible arrogant service and just a nasty demeanor

she's too quick, brushed things off and relies on other staff members to heavily. she's dismissive and I will not go back to her. On the flip side, the other staff members are great, hope they find their way to their own practices- i would totally see them

I have been a patient of Dr. Vail for years, although admittedly I've only seen her a handful of times. I have however taken both of my children to her for acne and mole removal on numerous occasions. In addition, I referred my mother to this practice many years ago and she has been a regular patient. I am definitely no longer recommending her and she has now lost 4 patients. I had an appointment two weeks ago for a skin rash which I suspected was poison ivy, possibly complicated by a reaction to medication. My rash took on at least three different forms, making it appear to be more than one problem. Her assistant took my information and also photos of the rash. The photos were taken while I was fully dressed due to the location of the rash not being covered by my clothing. The assistant then gave me a paper robe, told me to undress to all but my underpants. The doctor would be in. After 10-15 minutes, the door was thrown open and Dr Vail was entering the exam room announcing… that I had poison ivy. No hello, no questions concerning symptoms or history, just a loud announcement that it was poison ivy. She hadn't even spoken to me or examined me. When I explained that I had multiple symptoms and hadn't to my knowledge had contact with poison ivy, she restated that it was poison ivy with her arms folded across her chest. She then dictated a prescription to the assistant seated at the counter. When I mentioned that I had photos of the rash on my phone and she could see how it appeared at the very start and the progression it took she begrudgingly approached me and said show me...."next, next" in a very impatient voice as she was hurrying my without even looking at the photos. Why would she look at the photos I had taken when she didn't even examine me while I was sitting in front of her completely undressed? She then left the room. The assistant was completing the paper work on the ipad and calculating the prescription when she turned to me and said "you can get dressed". I've never been in a medical office where I've been undressed and told to get up and get dressed while someone was still in the room. I felt very uncomfortable, but proceeded to get up and begin getting dressed. Standing there in my underpants, the next thing I know, the door flies open again and there is Dr Vail instructing the assistant to notify my primary care physician of the diagnosis. No knock, no acknowledgement that I was standing there practically naked. Just barging in with another announcement and then leaving. Then, a second later, the door flies open again so that Dr Vail could instruct the assistant to throw away the over the counter topical medication I had been using and brought with me so she would know what I had used. Again, no knock, no excuse me, all the while I am still undressed. I should mention that the setup of the room left me completely exposed and standing in plain view of those in the common area outside the exam room. I left feeling dismissed, humiliated and totally disrespected. Fast forward 12 days. After taking the prescription as directed, I still have more than half of it left. So I count the tablets and figure if I continue following the directions, I'll be taking this for another 80 days! Now I know this can't be right, so I call the office and leave a message stating my name, phone number, and that my prescribed dosage and duration of medication seems off and I need to speak to someone about it. It was Saturday morning at 7:45. I am writing this at 5:00 PM on Monday and still have not received a return phone call. This is clearly inexcusable. Fifty eight hours after leaving a message that I'm concerned about my prescription being incorrect and no return phone call. Go elsewhere, this is downright dangerous!

Went to Dr Vail after being unhappy with another doc. She is very thorough, asks questions to get to the root of an issue, spends a good amount of time with you, the assisting staff is great too.

Dr Vail and her staff are great! Put me totally at ease and she is so easy to talk to. I would highly recommend!!!!

I made my appointment because of 2 worrisome moles. We arrived to find out there was no referral in place from my Primary (we normally check before all appointments but didn't this time!) We got it fixed, the Staff was understanding and gracious and made sure I was seen even though this took a extra 20 minutes and pushed me out of my appointment window with Dr Vail, so I saw the Physician Assistant, Sarah. Once my referral issue was fixed, we were seen right away. Sarah was FANTASTIC! Thorough, clear, concise. She found a few other areas of concern and fixed those, too. I'm very careful about my skin, and was concerned about these issues popping up so I appreciate that she took the time to explain and educate me on even more added skin protection and what to look for. Beautiful, bright, new offices and fantastic Staff. Very happy that they are now my Family Dermatologists.
