Dr. Barrett Randall Blaue, MD

I went to see Dr. Blaue in 2024 for extreme pelvic and abdominal pain with hemorrhage during periods which would last 18 to 23 days straight. The bleeding was so severe it caused me to become severely anemic. I told Dr. Blaue my concerns, and he was very dismissive telling me there was nothing wrong with me. He said "Its not Endometriosis " when I told him my mom almost died from stage 4 Endometriosis, and my symptoms are the same. He also stated that it was "impossible " for me to be in perimenopause which is from 35 to 55 years of age. I was 41 at the time. I felt so defeated that he wouldn't believe me that I didn't go back to a GYN until April of 2025 because I thought no one would believe me. I finally went to a different GYN provider who DID believe me. I was told I had stage 4 adenomyosis, polycystic ovaries and fibroids. I was told I would need a complete hysterectomy. I went in on Thursday for my hysterectomy, and when the doctor went in my organs were so diseased that my… uterus was glued to my bowel and pelvic ligaments. My adhesions were so extensive that the GYN surgeon couldn't even complete the surgery. As it turns out I was correct the whole time. In addition to the other problems I listed, I also have stage 4 Endometriosis and a condition called Frozen Pelvis. I now have to see a GYN Oncologist who is the only one that can perform the extensive surgery that I need. Had Dr. Blaue not been dismissive, I could have received the care I desperately needed before the disease spread further. If you take your health seriously, please dont go to this doctor. By the way, my new GYN provider also said I am absolutely in perimenopause. So he was wrong about that too.

I would be very cautious when considering this practice. I originally went when we first moved here three years ago. I saw Dr. Blaue and found him to be very attentive, taking the time to hear my concerns regarding my family history of ovarian cancer. He referred me to Dr. De la Garza in San Antonio. The next year I saw Dr. Blaue for my annual it was a different experience. He was cold, unfriendly, seemed annoyed and decided not to do a full exam that day. I was disappointed but thought maybe it was just an off day. Fast forward to yesterday. 4/28/25. I went in for a follow up after having a full and total hysterectomy on 3/13/25 with Dr. De la Garza. I was instructed to follow up with my regular doctor. After waiting 45 minutes, Dr. Blaue came in holding a piece of paper, looked at me, tossed the paper on the table and said I have nothing, why are you even here. I was so caught off guard. I explained what I had originally explained to the nurse of why I was there. He agreed to check… my stitches/cuff. He said, wait 6 more weeks before resuming regular activities. Anything else? I explained my concern for HRT as I am experiencing difficulty with my hormones. He told me that's not an option for me given my family history of cancer. He then stood up, said see you in a year and walked out. I sat there feeling very dismissed, unheard and unbelievably sad. He gave no alternative to HRT, asked me no further questions. Clearly unconcerned with my mental health after this hysterectomy. For reference I am 49 years old and the surgery put me into medical menopause. I think it is unfortunate that a gynecologist who has taken an oath as a doctor to work with women took this approach with me and treated me as though I did not matter. He rushed through the appointment, not caring just wanting me to go away. That is how I felt. I would NOT recommend this practice and definitely would NOT recommend Dr. Blaue. No compassion, communication or care was given at all. I felt small and very unheard. I would seriously reconsider this doctor when looking for care.

No bedside manner. Told me my problem was basically in my head. Then tells the girls not to let me come back. Wouldn't have anyways. Do not see this doctor.

I’ve see Dr Blaue for 3yrs now for my birth control as well as women well visits. I’ve had a previous procedure done and was recommended to repeat it during the coronavirus pandemic. In speaking to the nurse, I told her I had to decline due to finances and she went on to say “well don’t you have insurance?” as if diagnostic procedures don’t carry hefty prices. I immediately received a letter in the mail dismissing me as a patient. There are no ifs ands or buts when it comes to listening to the doctor apparently... even with all this going on.

Insisted that I had to have expensive testing done in order for him to prescribe me birth control. When I refused, he fought me for months, then just dropped me as a patient. Very unprofessional.

The dr spent about 3 minutes total with me including a pap. Had questions about a prior diagnosis and preparation for pregnancy. I went 15 minutes early for paperwork and was rushed from the start. The nurse took my papers page by page from me as I finished them in the lobby. Was brought back before I finished paperwork. Waste of money for my well woman’s exam....left me with many questions. Did I even get a thorough exam in that amount of time? I was scheduled before lunch so maybe the focus was taking their lunch breaks.
