Dr. Barry Richard Fernbach, MD

He is an excellent and caring oncologist. I have been his patient for over 17 years. He has pulled me through some really tough times. Thanks to him, I am here today.

Had an appointment for a consultation on 9/2/14. Blood was drawn for lab work. Spent an inordinate of time waiting. As of 10/27/14 I have not had an oral or written report of results.

Dr. Fernbach is too old, too apathetic and too out of touch with modern medicine. He spends no time with his patients, does his best to rush out of the office/hospital bed and makes for a truly isolated patient experience. He'll go on vacation and not answer any emergent phone calls. You have to hound the office to get test results. What is worse, is that his patients are cancer patients and need to feel like their oncologist has their back...Barry Fernbach is far from that. Besides his bedside manner, Dr. Fernbach's longevity has transformed into apathy. He will tell you from the start "there is little we can do". He doesn't instill hope and you know from the beginning he has no fight. This becomes rapidly demoralizing to his cancer patients, who know they have an uphill battle, and learn early on that their oncologist doesn't believe in their success. Dr. Fernbach will flash many smiles and is likely a nice guy on the street, but don't let that fool you into thinking he is… apt at his job. He no longer has faith in his practice. He should have retired 10 years ago. He is not up to date with new medical literature. At this stage in his career he is simply going through the motions. I would advise you find a young engaged oncologist who will advocate for you. Unfortunately, Dr. Fernbach is already planning his retirement.

He is a quack

I saw Dr. fernback for a hematology issue. Before you actually get to see the doctor - you need to deal with his office staff, which have elevated the art of "We don't care about our patients" to an art form. Getting an appoint was a hassle. Later on meeting them - I understood why, they are more interested in gossiping among themselves. The appointment was straight forward and while Dr. Fernbach did not rush, he also was short on explanation.I later switched to another doctor and the office would not release my records.If you're sick - save yourself the additional pain and find another doctor.

He needs to retire. He is absolutely horrible to deal with. Nice, but inept.

I would never again use this Doctor, how he can be alowed to continue praticing is just beyond and scope of understanding. When will some one see him for what he is and that is a horible Doctor who picks and chooses who will get care.
