Dr. Barry Lynn Fisher, MD

I never needed to see a psychiatric until my 26 year old son did. As we are African, I was looking for an African American psychiatric to better understand him, the one I had consulted did not want me to participate in therapy without my son's written permission (even though I was the one who l contacted and not my son). Finally, just decided to find him the best psychiatric regardless of race, I googled the 10 best psychiatric in DC and clicked on Dr. Fisher name, luckily he was the right one. Dr. Fisher is human, professional and very knowledgeable. I rank him 1st in the 10 best psychiatric.

Please do not visit this so-called doctor. He is very unprofessional. He was told about an incident that occurred in his office and outside and he did not care or do anything. He does not care about his patients.

I saw this doctor for several years and left more impaired than how I arrived. My medication response and condition were not properly motnitored and my concerns were not taken seriously. I was hospitalized while under his care under preventable circumstances. He gave me a medication that made me manic. I feel compelled to review because I am shocked at his response to a patient in one of the previous reviews. It resonates with my experience of him as someone more concerned with his point of view, or pre-judgements, than with my reports of symptoms. It was hard to get him to understand my symptoms at various points.

I've been seeing Dr. Fisher for 8 years for the treatment of bipolar disorder. I have seen therapists for many years, and he is the only doctor who has successfully treated my condition. He was very knowledgeable regarding which prescriptions, and is careful to monitor my mood and progress.

My only complaint is that he does not participate in any insurance plans, but I guess the fact that I still go to him is a testament to the level of care Dr. Fisher provides. He is caring, skilled and professional. He has been compassionate and proactive during crisis points in my life and he has gently but firmly pushed me to grow and challenge the way I respond and react to stress, etc.

empty shell who wasted a vast amount of my time through inaccurate diagnosis and improper treatment. This one should be seriously investigated by the American Medical and Psychiatric Associations.
