you can tell that this guy just does not care

Went to the Er last night after finding out I have 2 kidney stones. One in each kidney plus left kidney enlarged. My dr told me to go to er if pain got worse so my 34 yr old daughter drove me. She was talking on her phone when Dr Gest came in and insisted she get off her phone so he knew he was not being recorded. I told him what my dr said about going to the er and he asked me what I wanted him to do for me. Really!!! Then told me I didn’t have any stones and no reason to be in pain like all I want is pain medicine. I didn’t even get a IV to push fluids. Went to St Vincent ER this morning and found out I DO have kidney stones and an infection. If I would have waited until my urologist appointment it could have gone septic. Worse doctor I have ever met. Should have license revoked.

i took my mother to the er for some pain she was having related to shingle pain from a few months ago and same thing as other people have said about him " what can i do for you" is what he says!! Fix me or treat me like a human at least. I found him to be very uncaring, unhumane, not humble at all.Being the son of the patient, I was simply gonna ask him a simple question and he said " no what ifs. We are gonna run test and see whats going on and then we will talk after that" I wasnt saying what ifs but ok!!! He"s like a drill sargent or something!! I wouldnt allow him to work at my hospital at all!! makes the hospital have a bad reputation..

Contrary to other experiences I read here, I was recently in the ER, had Dr Gest, he listened well, did some tests, admitted me to observation, and a day later, moved to a standard room. I thought he had good bedside manner diagnosed me correctly, and conferred with my family. I was not seeking pain meds.

THIS MAN SHOULD NOT BE A DOCTOR. HE IS RUDE AND THE MOST UNCARING DOCTOR I HAVE EVER MET IN MY LIFE. HE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO TREAT NOT THAT HE DOES UNLESS YOU CAN TELL HIM WHAT DAY IT HAPPENED. HE DOSN'T CARE I BET HE BEATS HIS WIFE AND HIS DOGS. I HAVE A PINCHED NERVE IN MY NECK WHEN I LEFT I NOTICE THAT HE ONLY WAY KNEW ABOUT MY BULGING DISK WAS BY READING IT WHEN I WAS THERE IN 2017.I KNOW HOW IT FELT AND ALL HE WANTED TO KNOW WAS THE DATE I FIRST STARTED HAVING THE PROBLEM.. I HATE THIS MAN AND MAD BECAUSE THEY LET HIM STILL PRACTICE. I HAVE WORKED MY WHOLE LIFE AND I AM IN GREAT SHAPE FOR BEING 68. HE ACTED LIKE I WAS ON WELFARE ALL MY LIFE AND ALL I WANT WERE DRUGS. I DON'T TAKE ANY THING ESPCIALLY NORCOTICS. HE CAME IN THE ROOM WITH AN ATTITUDE. I COULD TELL HE WAS NOT A GOOD MAN AS SOON AS HE WALKED IN THE ROOM. I AM GLAD I GOT ON THIS SITE. BECAUSE I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS HATEFUL MAN. ALL THE NURSES AND TECHS WERE WONDERFUL PEOPLE.

Terrible Bedside Manner.

If this man is your ER doctor go ahead and leave. I went in for hitting my head at work and having a concussion. This man was extremely rude and could careless about patients. Doesn't explain anything and belittles you horribly. I asked for a Tylenol due to the goose egg on the back of my head and the migraine like sympotoms I was having. I was only asking for Tylenol and he grilled me as if I was a drug addict seeking narcotics! Dr. Gest sends me home without any explanation besides to go see a concussion specialist in the morning. I ended up being sent home, walking out and being helped by a friend because I could barely stand. I was home for less than 30 minutes before projectile vomited and passed out. While the nurse was starting an IV on me she didn't have the the tube connected and I started bleeding everywhere. I blacked out and the nurse kept asking me if I was ok or was I seeing spots. Then procured to clean up the blood that was everywhere and apologize over and over to… me. She also told my friend that was with me to carry the IV fluids that were connected to the wall and walk me to get a urine specimen. I can't even open my eyes or think clearly at this point. Don't go to deaconess ER, they will only treat you as if you're coming there for drugs. I didn't think Tylenol (over the counter) would classify me as what they might normally see on a daily basis. I feel disrespected and completely judged.

I was in the emergency room last night due to complications from a long bout of c diff. I was recently discharged from the hospital Sunday where I was being treated for this infection. Dr. Gest came into the room and told me I did not have c diff and that I was fine. He argued with me when I told him that I was diagnosed with it and it was in the epic system. He refused to look and told me that the dr who treated me during my last hospitalization said I did not have the Infection either. That I should not be treated with antibiotics, but that dr is the one who prescribed me the antibiotics to treat the infection. He was so rude and talked down to me like I was an idiot. Finally he says ok I'm going to admit you but you aren't sick. I told him just take out my IV and let me go. He says no, but is there anything else I can do for you. I told him yea you can leave the room. I signed myself out AMA because if he was going to treat me like that I could only imagine the level of care I… would get for the duration of my stay. I left the hospital in tears because here I am still sick as ever and no help was given to me. He is the most offensive and horrible doctor I have ever encountered. I did test positive for c diff again and I have half a mind to send him the results. He has no business caring for sick people.

THIS DR WAS THE ONE WHO CAME IN THE OBSERVATION ROOM THE MORNING AFTER I WAS ADMITTED INTO THE HOSPITAL WITH LEFT HIP AND LEG PAIN. HE CAME IN AND SAID "WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU" I SAID "I WAS HOPING YOU COULD TELL ME". THIS DOCTOR PROCEEDS TO TELL ME THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ME AND HE WAS SIGNING DISCHARGE PAPERS ON ME. HE DID NOT EVEN EXPLAIN THE TESTS RAN OR THE RESULTS AND EVEN FORGOT MY ANTIBIOTIC AND REASON PRESCRIBED. I SAT THERE IN MY BED IN TEARS AS HE WALKS AWAY. I WAS LATER DIAGNOSED WITH A PINCHED NERVE AND TREATED FOR THIS WITH PHYSICAL THERAPY AND ANTINFLAMATORY MEDS AND PAIN MEDS. IF I HAD LISTENED TO HIM I WOULD STILL BE IN THE FLOOR. THIS MAN HAS NO BUSINESS WORKING WITH THE SICK AND I HOPE HE NEVER GETS SICK AND HAVE SOMEOME DO THIS TO HIM. I WOULDN'T WISH THIS ON MY WORST ENEMY. NOT EVEN HIM!
