Dr. Barry Charles Goldman, MD

Not a "warm & fuzzy" doctor but has been giving me excellent care for many years.

We moved to another state after Katrina, and I had an internist there who was very warm, very personable--just the kind of person one would want to socialize with. When I returned to NO, my doctor had retired and Dr. Goldman was recommended to me by a well known, highly-thought of physician. I scheduled an appointment with him to review my rather complicated medical situation. My initial reaction was that he was rude, so I understand how the negative reviewers could have felt. But over the course of 5 years and my various medical problems and hospitalizations, etc, I have come to not only respect him but be grateful that he is my primary care physician. If he doesn't know an answer--like an atypical problem I had that was treated by 2 specialists--he will find it quickly. He prepares for a visit by reviewing one's records (enough to be alert to what may be happening). He has a prodigious memory and focuses on what his patient tells him and remembers it. And if one has an… urgent matter, he will see one quickly. He has been out of the office for 3 months for personal reasons, which is probably why one reviewer's appointment was pushed back, and his staff had to be swamped and terse. That is not typical for his office--believe me, I know. He isn't "warm and fuzzy" but he is highly professional, highly intelligent, and an excellent physician.

Dr. Goldman/his staff are very unprofessional. I never even got in to see him. My first appointment was rescheduled for a month later. Then ON THE DAY of the second appointment I was notified that I was not considered an urgent appointment and they wanted to push my appointment back TWO MONTHS! ON THE DAY OF MY APPOINTMENT! Such unprofessional behavior. I will find another doctor who thinks my time is worth something and who thinks I am an important patient. I find this behavior Disgusting.

This was a nightmare of a Dr. Visit . I don't know what set him off that morning but he was upset that his nurse was not on time . He was rude an verbally abusive. When Dr. Goldman stepped out the exam room to retrieve something . I grabbed my clothes and left . I received a phone call an hour later to say they were looking for me. I said no Thank You I won't be returning . I have never had anyone talk to me in such a manner I did nothing to deserve the treatment I received . I'm still horrified by that Dr. Visit to this day .

Very rude to family that accompanied me. no compassion.

I have seen Dr. Goldman for several years and I appreciate his bedside manner as well as his efficient service and practical advise. He doesn't mince words, but he is always respectful. His appointments have always been on time with one exception (his previous patient was in cardiac distress), and in general, I can get an appointment very quickly. he is personable, and I always enjoy my visits.

Dr. Goldman has been my primary care physician for several years now. I have found him to be direct, forthcoming with pertinent information, and caring...and his sense of humor puts me at ease. His staff members all go beyond the call of duty to be helpful.

Very direct and no-nonsense, but he is at the same time very patient, and you never doubt that he really cares about your health and your concerns. He listens carefully, is never judgmental, and instills confidence. I really trust him.

Dr. Goldman is a no-nonsense doctor who is great at what he does. He was recommended to me by a friend of my wife's and I love his direct style of medicine. He is attentive and listens and is very easy to speak with.
