Dr. Barry Stuart Handler, MD

I have been with Dr. Handler now for over 3 years. He completely transformed me . After gastric bypass I had lost over 200 lbs and when I came to Dr. Handler I had kept it off for over 3 years. But I had so much lose skin everywhere it caused pain when I would sit in one position for over a half hour in the car, I had rashes in various locations, etc. And these are just a few of the problems it caused, as well as the obvious embarrassing ugliness of it all. After two major operations and numerous scar revisions, he fixed it all. I am so happy with the outcome. I actually look like a normal human male for the first time in my 55 year old life. He never rushed me. He always explained everything to be done. His prices were reasonable considering the amount of work and time involved, and he was always patient and caring. My case is probably somewhat unique and complex. And I must say, I had virtually no complications. This is a testament to this Doctorâ??s skill as a… Surgeon. I am so happy I found him and I highly recommend him.

I only give him one star because I am not able to give him a 0. He may be good at face lifts or breast augmentation but he has NO IDEA what he is doing as far a reconstructive surgery is concerned. I needed scar tissue removed and he indicated at our first consultation that he had experience in doing so. Not so, he gave me more scar tissue than I went in with and I had to have corrective surgery, to his surgery, done by another plastic surgeon who actually knew about scar tissue, not breasts and faces. Had to miss more work, be out of commission and in pain again.. He also prescribed pain medication that contained a content he knew (or should have known if my allergies had been written in my chart) I was allergic to. When my husband called to have the prescription changed, he prescribed THE EXACT SAME DRUG WITH A DIFFERENT NAME (unbeknownst to me as I don't know the formularies of all the pain meds, I assume the doctor knows what he is doing in prescribing a drug). I ended up in the… emergency room with anaphylaxis. Had they written down my allergies or paid attention to what they prescribed this could have been avoided. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
