Dr. Barry Eliot Hirsch, MD

The staff needs trained that when speaking to someone who is hearing impaired not to be looking down at their clipboard as they are walking in from of the patient. I could not hear a thing she was saying! The doctor equally had me remove my hearing aids and talked to his resident and I could not hear a thing. After the exam and putting my hearing aids back in appeared to care less why I was urgently sent to his office by my local ENT. Never discussed future plan of action although stated in notes that he had. VERY DISAPPOINTED in the whole overall visit especially after I had read such great reviews. I work for UPMC and I am embarrassed to even be somewhat associated with this type of office. We are trained and retrained on patient care and satisfaction. This office and physician gets a ZERO in my book.

Used, open syringes, with expired medication on them were on the window ledge. Took over TWO HOURS to be seen by the doctor!!! Took 1.5 hours to see a resident, who knew nothing and did not even introduce himself. The doctor was very arrogant and dismissive of my concerns. The medical assistant did not even know how to take my blood pressure, with an automatic machine.

BEST DR. AND HIS STAFF ARE GREAT.

I went in to see Dr. Hirsch with 80% hearing loss that I have lived with for many years. He quickly determined what was its cause and the following week I had a stapedectomy in my left ear. After a week if healing I have regained all my hearing back in that ear. I can't wait for him to do the right ear now. I didn't realize what I have been missing. He's changed my life and I can't thank him enough or give him enough praise. I would recommend him in a heartbeat! Thanks Dr Hirsch!

DR HIRSH WAS MAGNIFICENT IN HIS SURGERY AND EXPLAINED EVERYTHING IN GREAT DETAIL. AFTER MY SURGERY HE WAS SO HELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING.

The first thing I saw when I entered the room was a used syringe sitting on the window sill. There was no sanitation at all including no gloves used and touching all tools with hands before putting them in my ear. I was there for a consultation for an upcoming surgery and was told by Dr. Hirsch that I should go get a second opinion so I can have a Dr. explain the surgery he was to preform on me as well as the risks explained to me. He was the most unsanitary and unprofessional Dr. I have ever dealt with. Save yourself the trouble and look for another Dr. now.

I was transford to Dr. Hirsch a few ears ago when i had a problem with my ear and ended up having to have 2 surgeries done which Dr. hirsch did both of them. He is such an AMAZING dr. and i would send anyone to him. I feel like he knows me so well that he knew me from the first time i walked in there. He is very kind, caring, helpful and will let you make choices on things and does not force things uppon you unless they need done.

My experience with Dr. Hirsch has been fantastic. I've had cholesteatomas in both ears, so I've let this guy inside my head three times - that should speak for itself. If you come prepared with questions for him, he will spend the time to go through them. He takes good care of the family as well. When my first cholesteatoma surgery went well beyond the time he had mentioned to us, he took a break to talk with my wife to make sure that she understood the situation. Best advice - don't drive a monster truck through your ear. Oh, and keep the Q-tips away as well. :-)
