Dr. Barry Neill Jones, MD

Everything has to go through this one man. If you see a NP or an assistant you wait for a day or two(sometimes longer, if he’s on vacation) Lifestance is a big scam. I’m usually the one making a diagnosis and suggesting what I should do next as far as medication; they couldn’t care less. Oh! and don’t get me started on the front desk people. Rude!

I finally found this monster. Avoid this psychiatrist at all costs. I met this doctor when I was 17 years old at the old Emory Psychiatric Unit (now not in operation) and he was around 26 years old +-. The time was the summer of 1970. I am now 73 years old and my recollection of him is as vivid as the day I met him. I came in with severe depression and was admitted by my parents, as I was still a minor being under 18. I was told upon admission that I would be evaluated within the next three or four days. That I was! Dr. Jones came in with a nurse I recognized from the day I was admitted and told me I was to undergo a physical. I thought this to be a little strange for a psychiatric unit, other than vitals. His nurse helped him lay down a green quilt on the floor and he told me to remove my clothing and started his physical with the nurse who had been so nice, "stone faced" and never even once looking at me. I don't think a breast exam or a pelvic exam for a stint in the… Emory Psychiatric Unit was acceptable. I knew this was not right, but I didn't say anything to anyone, as it was after all "Emory" and he was the one that was going to decide my fate. I was trapped. Who was going to believe a 17 year old in a psychiatric unit over a well-educated Emory doctor? In the era of the 1970's "nice" girls just didn't speak of such things to anyone. I held this inside of me and didn't even tell my parents. I told no one until I met my life-long psychiatrist who is now deceased. I went on AI last night and saw that this sicko was still alive and around 82 years old. Back when he was giving me treatment in his late twenties, I did refuse to talk to him during sessions because I literally despised him for what he had done. After six weeks he told my parents he couldn't do anything with me because I didn't like him and was referring me to another psychiatrist he knew well. This psychiatrist became my life-long psychiatrist. It seemed they were not only professional friends but socially connected as well, so I held back and didn't speak of the incident until right before he died. My life-long psychiatrist was speechless. The statute of limitations is way past due and I have nothing to gain by writing this except to warn anyone young or old not to make an appointment with Dr. Barry Neill Jones. I have carried the memory of this around with me for nearly 55 years and have thought things in my life might have been different if I'd spoken up. As said before, I was a victim of the "times" when girls kept such things to themselves and the situation where I was in a psychiatric unit at the age of 17. I was 3-4 days in on high powered psychiatric medicine they were "trying out" on me, but I still remember all of this very well. All my proof is gone except for what I am now writing - the Emory Unit is no longer in operation and my life-long psychiatrist died a couple of years ago. Dr. Jones is still out there, however. My life might have been a lot different if I had just spoken up or even told my parents. Don't make an appointment with Dr. Barry Neill Jones. AI says his license expires the end of 2025, and I still had time to warn anyone who might be vulnerable. Dr. Barry Neill Jones is nothing but a predator.

At first all was going well, but at my last appointment while waiting in the reception area, the staff was discussing (rather loud) the different prices for various marijuana products. Not a good environment for children.

Did not see Dr. Jones however I visited GA Behavioral Health because I moved too far to continue seeing my prior psychiatrist. It was so hard to make an initial appointment. You can only schedule it with the "new patient coordinator" and she is incompetent and impossuble to reach. The initial visit is always a nurse visit but you see the doctor during an appointment that you make a month later. The nurse talked up how at other places you "never see the doctor" and how this is great. I've seen the doctor, on the first visit, at the 4 other practices I've ever used. Also, who has time to make such frequent appointments?? The wait time was ridiculous. I needed to be at work and scheduled it so I could be - they lie and tell you your appointment time and duration is different than it is. There was a woman there who had been waiting for over an hour. They also give you a random drug test, evidently, for which I tested positive - falsely - for METH. The nurse finally told me at the end of… the session and it made sense all of the questions about drugs and "recent events" that she'd been asking me looking for a "confession." She told me that if I hadn't done meth, that taking a friend's Adderall could've caused the false positive. She then prescribed me a new medication for which I needed to make an appointment 2 weeks later. I scheduled it on my lunch break but it turns out the appointment card they gave me was incorrect and it was scheduled on a different day so I had to go through the struggle of making another appointment due to their mistake. Seriously unhappy with this practice, and particularly Susan Player, Dr. Jones's nurse.

This office is the best office I have been to. I moved to the area and he was able to switch me to more effective medication and assist in other areas of my life. He is a blessing. And all the therapists in the office are equally as good. Especially Katie Butler. She was extremely caring and helpful!

Really like this Doctor a lot. TMS has been a Godsend.

SuSan and dr jones have changed my life - I am so thankful for them and everyone there! After exhausting efforts elsewhere, they finally found the right combo of meds and also listen to me and really care! I am so thankful!

Dr. Jones saw me quickly. If you are looking for someone to simply prescribe your medications, he's fine. You will most likely only see him once, then you will see his physician's assistant, who is very nice but who will basically sit there for the fifteen minutes of your appointment barely looking at you but typing information into her ipad regarding your health. She will then re-prescribe or add some other medication or take some medication out of your routine and so on. See a psychologist, or licensed social worker for talk therapy.

The office staff are extremely rude. They wanted a 100.00 deposit from you when scheduling an appointment and said the copay would come from that deposit with the rest being credited back. We had to cancel on a Friday morning for a Monday appointment. They refused to credit the 100.00 back and were very rude. They said we needed to give a 48 hour notice to cancel. However, their website indicates a 24 hour notification. They are only out for money any way they can. We do not recommend this practice.
