Dr. Barry Light, MD

Dr. Light is a gentle, caring, kind, and exceptionally talanted pediatrition. I drive three hours to take my son to see him. I have tried to use a very well respected local pediatritian for routine issues since my son has no major health issues, but often I either end up following up with Dr. Light or at least wishing I had gone to him. I have a great deal of confidence in him. He is always attentive to my concerns as a Mom, giving me credit for knowing when something just isn't quite right with my son. He has never rushed through a visit. He saved my son's life by accurately and rapidly diagnosing a case of ITP where his platelet count dropped to nearly zero. I brought him in to Dr. Light looking as if he had been beaten. He was covered with bruises and bleeding slightly from his nose and ears. Dr. Light knew me, and never suspected abuse. He diagnosed him quickly, and transferred him to Children's Hospital after calling all St. Louis hospitals and determining that Children's was the… only hospital that had a new medication that my son would benefit from. He was completely normal in three days instead of the usual weeks to a month it takes to recover using the typical treatment at that time. Dr. Light goes above and beyond for his patients. I cannot begin to express how impressed I am with Dr. Light. I give him my highest recommendation.
