Dr. Barry Scott Pinchoff, MD

Dr Pinchoff helped me so much. My daughter's OT convinced me that she had vision/tracking issues. It turns out it was an attention issue - She has trouble focusing and paying attention. Katherine, who first evaluated my daughter's eyes assured me her tracking and acuity were just fine. I so appreciated a confident and smart opinion.

A patient always likes to communicate with his physician directly. My query was (knowledgeably) answered but via an office staff. It is correct that my concern was attended to however the fact that the doctor did not bother to call and speak with me personally was bothersome. This displayed a lack of courtesy and concern for his patient's concerns. Understandably he is very busy yet I would have waited for whenever he would have become available. That is my experience in other medical offices.

Great diagnostician- diligent, smart and reassuring. He's not the warmest person but definitely someone I would recommend to evaluate your child's eye problems.

Dr Pinchoff came highly recommended by our pediatrician, and he has lived up to his reputation. First off, his academic credentials are tops in his field (Columbia undergrad, Cornell medical school, university of Michigan residency). Beyond that, his knowledge is extremely impressive. Moreover, his bedside manner is excellent - both with respect to our son and us. He is very pleasant, takes time on his exams, and takes time w us after to explain exactly what he sees and what his opinions are. He also types a report each time and sends it to the pediatrician the following day. He even calls the pediatrician in our presence to update him on the status I our son. Very impressive dr. Highly recommended!

I have b4een going to this office for quite some time and have yet ran into any rude staff. I am happy with their staff and the doctor has always been right about my sons condition.

I was very unhappy with Dr. Pinchoff's pre-patient policy. My daughter is six months old and has a small red mark on her eyelid. I spoke to the pediatrician and he said its probably just some capillaries exposed on the outside of her eyelid - but it might be a good idea to see an eye doctor to make sure. This is on the skin not on the actual eyelid. The nurse told me that they had to dialate my child's eyes BEFORE the doctor would even see her. I advised that I was not comfortable with putting any chemicals in my daughters eyes until he saw my daughter first to determine if the skin marking was something that needed solution in her eyes first. The office called me back and the Doctor refused to see my child unless the solution was put in her eye first - without even seeing her to see what the problem was. He claimed it would not be "ethical" My opinion is that it would not be ethical to his pocket - and that a doctor should at least visually examine a patient before determining… what the next step will be. This doctor's policy is clearly just about billing insurance carriers.

I will admit, the staff is not the most friendly and there is a very long wait in a crowded office, however, I believe Dr Pinchoff to be a wonderful Dr. My 3 year old had an eye condition that was mainly obvious to only those close to us. We had taken her to antother group of Drs that continually misdiagnosed her. Dr Pinchoff was able to diagnose and treat the problem and was/is incredbily patient considering our daughter is borderline hyperactive. He is patient and kind.

This was the first time that I had taken my child to a pediatric opthalmologist and since he works with children, I thought he would have some patience and understanding. He had no bedside manner whatsoever and was actually rude to my son. I would not recommend this doctor to any family or friends.

I brought my daughter in to see Dr. Pinchoff due to an eye infection her pediatrician could not diagnose. I had to leave work early to get to this appointment. We arrived at our appointment 5 minutes late, checked in and sat down in the packed waiting room. 45 minutes later I went to the front desk to find out how much longer the wait would be. The receptionist, who was not at all apologetic, said she had no idea and turned away. When I persisted, she pointed out that I had been 5 minutes late (as if that accounted for the delay). We were then called in, not to see the doctor, but to have a sales pitch delivered by the optometrist located in the offices on the services and glasses he carries. 20 minutes later we were seen by Dr. Pinchoff. From the outset he was dismissive, distracted, and seemed annoyed. He even reprimanded me when I could not tell him what kind of conjunctivitis my daughter had had several months earlier. We were summarily dismissed to further waiting in the outer… office. My daughter and I left in anger and disgust. You can imagine my response when the Dr.'s office called to say we had failed to pay our co-pay upon leaving. No patients should be treated like this. I would sooner visit a witch doctor than ever return to that horrible office.
