Dr. Barry Clark Sussman, MD

Dr. Sussman is a wonderful person. Kept me informed, at ease, and never hurried up to situations.

I felt very comfortable after meeting Dr. Sussman. He has excellent bedside manner and after speaking with him I felt at ease and very much assured that he was the best doctor to perform my surgery. The surgery went very smoothly and my recovery has been going very well. I definitely recommend this doctor.

While Dr. Sussman can manage to diagnose an umbilical hernia, his ability to communicate what the procedure entails is misleading. His complete lack of indicating that a biopsy would also be done or for follow through with the biopsy results was appalling. His arrogance when questioned was only full of self defense instead of addressing the concerns. While post surgical concerns do arise, his unwillingness to address skin necrosis at 1/3 of the surgical site by passing it off as a suture reaction was insulting. No, I would obviously not recommend him.

Dr. Sussman insisted I needed surgery, however he could not explain what was wrong or what the surgery entailed. I didn't walk away, I ran.

I have only positive things to say about Dr. Sussman. Aside from being one of the most highly respected surgeons in the NY metro area I found him to be extremely communicative, always willing to patiently discuss my numerous concerns. He has a great gift of allaying ones fears during what can certainly be considered an unusually stressful time in in ones life. I don't know what more one can ask for in a surgeon or another human being for that matter.
