Dr. Barry Niel Williams, MD

If you want the very best you must choose Dr. Williams. He helped me when no one else could. He saved my life and I'll always appreciate his kind caring manner. His excellent treatment is the very best, he treats you like you're as intelligent as he is and explains everything you need to know in depth. He is a wonderful doctor and human being.

My daughter has Bipolar 1 she is doing everything in her power to stay on the right track and take her medication faithfully. But when she arrived at her Dr appt the beginning of the week her medication was going to be called in to her pharmacy where she lives. She drives 2 and a half hours to get to her appt. She comes from out of town. When she went on Friday to get her medication it was never called in or sent over no kind of way. So now she has to go for days without her medication which puts her at risk and everyone around her. So when something happens who do you blame? It seems to me that all they care about is the money. What happen to caring about the welfare of your patients.

Very understanding Dr. Seems to have Your best interest at heart. Easy to Converse with, in depth knowledge of Addiction challenges.

Horrible dr. Doesn't care about patient has unqualified nurse talk to you who knows nothing about rehabilitation puts you on enormous doses of suboxan then makes you go to class once a week. Which by the way is 90$ when he makes you take urine test .. Oh yea 243$ .guys a low life all about sticking to insurance and patients all about that money

I have been a regular patient for 13 years. I object to the low reporting given to office staff. They have always been courteous and helpful to me. However, over the last several years, the wait times have become excruciatingly long. The waiting room is sometimes standing room only. So much for anonymity!! Fortunately I do not suffer from any disorder related to small, cramped spaces, or behavioral issues that would be triggered by being surrounded by strangers while trying to choke down social anxieties. I truly feel for those who do. I have seen patients walk out because of the wait. My last appointment was at 2:15 for a 20 med check. I walked out of the office at 4:00. I have waited up to 2 hours to see Dr Williams. Up until a few years ago, I had total faith in him. These days, I feel like he's not listening. He's a smart man, but I'm growing weary of the ridiculously long waits and the growing inattentiveness.

after suffering as an undiagnosed bipolar and having been seen by several psychiatrists who were of little help, I committed myself into forsyth hospital's psychiatric unit, where dr Williams took my case. he immediately correctly diagnosed my condition and prescribed the proper medications. I have been in remission for 10 years, am currently on minimal medication and no longer see a therapist. this guy is the best and I consider myself fortunate to have found him at a time when I saw no hope for recovery. while I agree with others about the often long waits, I understand that he spends long hours visiting hospitalized patients. I have awarded only 2 stars for follow up as there is no need for him to follow up at present.

He is not considerate of our time, he's at least 1 hour late... once I was 15 minutes late and staff wanted to reschedule my time and have me pay for missed appointment, I complained that he is always late... I was seen 2 hours later... Staff is not friendly at all... He's a pretty good psychiatrist once you get to see him, and he spends adequate time with patient...

Absolutely HIGH Disappointed!!!!! Dr. Williams was my doctor while I was in inpatient care at Forsyth Memorial hospital. He was an excellent doctor while I was in the hospital. However after being released I followed his instructions to setup psychiatric aftercare, and not addiction MEDICATION therapy(Soboxone \ Methadone Therapy). I was informed by his office that after Dr. Williams reviewed my file he was not willing to take me on as a patient. I was discouraged at first since he was the one who instructed me to seek him out for follow-up care for my depression. I started to do some research and I talked with current patients to find out he has VERY few, if any, patients that he sees for behavioral health. 99% of his practice is a cash ONLY Soboxone clinic. So, since I did not need soboxone and my insurance would cover my visits he was no longer interested. After talking with more of his current patients it seems that he is running a clinic to continue the addictive behavior of… addicts. So if you need more drugs and you have cash he is your man. If you truly want to kick your addictive behavior or get psychiatric help I highly encourage you to seek a true medical professional.

Dr. Williams is a very good doctor, but the wait is crazy 1 hour or more and the staff is not courteous and there is never a follow up after your visit.

He's a good psychiatrist, but my main objection is he makes everyone wait at least 1 hour
