Dr. Barry M. Zide, MD

This doctor caused significant harm to my health and well-being. He performed surgeries on my face, neck, and breasts that have left lasting damage. Following the procedures, I experienced extensive bruising and swelling for months. Bone and muscle were removed from my face, and fat was injected to mask the effects. My breasts were left in a deformed state. Each time I look in the mirror, I am reminded of the pain and the harm caused by these actions. Additionally, I believe there were efforts to alter reports and records to obscure accountability. The impact of these surgeries has been life-altering, affecting both my physical appearance and my livelihood, with little hope of recovery.

Dr Zide is a miracle worker. he knows his stuff cold and he is the most competent and experienced plastic surgeon in NYC and beyond. He was kind, courteous and very caring. He operated on me and my son a couple of months ago. I was worried to put my baby under, but he gave us the reassurance that everything would be under control and that the antithesis won' be harmful. He is a top notch plastic surgeon - highly skilled, super knowledgable and a great diagnostician. He promised a scar-free surgery for my 1 year old son - and he delivered. A month after he removed a tumor from my back so successfully that two days after the surgery I felt great and resumed my daily exercise routine. I healed in no time and so did my son and we had the most amazing experience. I cannot recommend him more highly. We need more surgeons like him - proficient in their field, and highly skilled in their craft. He changed my life. The effects of the surgery Zide performed on me are get worse over time. My advice to the fellow traveler is that if you sense that Zide hurt you get help as fast as you can. Go to a medical community that is not connected to Zide. Do not to to NYU. Zide's colleagues there will take his side against you. Go to Boston, Miami or Cleveland. These are good choices for outside help. Do not be discouraged or side tracked by any attempt Zide might make to gaslight you, i.e., to take a physical symptom you have and try to convince you that it's is all in your mind. It's not in your mind. And never go it alone. Always bring a companion with you to your appointments and follow-ups. Always keep a trusted health care professional in the loop when you are making health care decisions. Follow this advice and there is a good chance you won't end up like me, and from what I'm reading a lot of others like me. Good luck.

When I had my second Mohs surgery on my face requiring reconstructive surgery, I again sought out the services of Dr. Zide. He is extremely talented and skillful. He put me at ease from the very beginning. He listened to me and patiently addressed all my questions and concerns. The office is run well.

I was referred to Dr. Zide when I was 18 by Dr. Alex Bernestein. Now I am 44. I went through a number of surgeries. Dr. Zide was one of the most kid and carrying doctors I ever dealt with. I had a complicated vascular malformation case. Dr. Bernestein did the vascular part and Dr. Zide did the reconstructive part. I was suppose to have 2 plastic surgeries by Dr. Zide once done but because he was the master of his field, there was no need to do a second surgery. All doctors that looked at me did not believe I did not have an actual plastic surgery when my procedures were done. Thank you Dr. Zide and we will always be grateful!

Worst experience of my life Dr Zide is an arrogant rude narcissist who was both insulting and indifferent to senior residents lack of knowledge and surgical skills leaving me to regret my ill-considered choice! Paying less for cosmetic surgery by fellows is not advisable trust me you really do get what you pay for do not risk it!

There was something very disturbing about Dr. Zide's behavior right from the start that made me not want to trust him, but a resident convinced me that he was an excellent surgeon. This is the last time I take a recommendation from a resident. Dr. Zide engaged me in inappropriate conversation and Inappropriate humor. He ignored my questions, dismissed my concerns, and refused to discuss pain management. After my procedure, each time that I returned for a follow-up appointment he would recommend another procedure to fix something that had not come out right in his first procedure. Also, at each follow-up appointment he would recommend a procedure different from the one he had recommended on the previous appointment, apparently because he was unable to remember what he had recommended before and did not keep notes. During one follow-up procedure he was very impatient with me, seemed to be very much in a hurry to get things over with, and even manhandled me. He forced his hand into my… mouth and jabbed me with the needle resulting in painful injections. At one point I became so frightened by his aggressive manner that I took hold of his arm and attempted to pull his hand out of my mouth. The resident who was there to observe seemed visibly shaken by this. The office staff was rude, except for one girl who was very nice and who was part of the reason why I continued to return to Dr. Zide even though my inner sense told me not to. Unfortunately she went absent for some reason. The staff gave me hardly any instructions on how to take care of myself after my surgery, nor did they show any concern for my comfort or care. I complained to the office of the chief of the department, but I do not feel that my complaint was taken seriously. I feel that I received very poor care from Dr. Zide and his staff and my recommendation is to avoid them.

Truly rude and dismissive. I had concerns that were not addressed. Beyond horrible bedside manner. Gave me an extra long scar on the side of my face claiming it would mimic the smile line of the other side. It absolutely didn’t do that. I also received a chin implant that hurts to this day. He was unprofessional and started injecting things into my mouth and gums in the waiting room, before I was even under anesthesia. When I shared my concern about receiving a second “brush up” surgery from him he cussed me out on the phone using multiple explicatives. He was yelling and putting a lot of pressure on me to follow through with the second surgery. He said if I pushed back this surgery he would never let me be his patient again and that if I changed my mind he wouldn’t take me back. I have never in my entire life experienced someone so unsympathetic, self-absorbed and unprofessional In the medical field. I regret the first surgery. Absolutely regret it. Do not go to him.

The writings that Zide authors are of two main types. The first type concerns how to DO surgery. The second type concerns how to SELL surgery. The how to SELL type he always authors by himself. The how to DO type he almost always is named as co-author. The two types are of an entirely different character, language and subject matter. The writings that he co-authors seem reasonable and professional. The writings for which his name and his name alone appears are disturbing and creepy. To me this suggests that he does little to none of the writing or work on the writing he co-authors, i.e., that they are entirely written by the other doctors, while the creepy ones are written by Zide and Zide alone.
