Dr. Barton Lee Lewis, MD

I saw dr Lewis for over 15 years. I have complex PTSD anxiety and bipolar. To this day he is the only dr.that cared more about my mental health than prescribing goverment sold meds. I had to relocate and after 2 years and trying several other doctors I have found there is noone as genuine as him.and to this day I remain untreated because of this.He is the ol y dr.in 50 years I would recommend.

I met Dr. Lewis in the worst period of my life. My meds were messed up by another doc, and my bipolar was completely out of control. Dr. Lewis worked with me to get me stabilized on minimal medication for the first time in my 27 years. I saw him for 7 years until he relocated to FL. Since he left, I've been to almost every psychiatrist in 3 counties trying to find one as knowledgeable about bipolar as he is. He was the best in eastern NC and is greatly missed here.

Dr. Lewis was my Dr. in Morehead City, NC for many years. He always provided his patients with the utmost care, concern and provided successful treatment remedies. I know he is greatly missed here by many of his patients.

Mr Lewis is just finishing a corporatized career out at the sleazy free clinic life management in Panama city,fl.He told me upon meeting him 15 months ago that he prescribes what life managements crony administration tells him to prescribe,this sleazy clinic which caters to low income working class clients in addiction plagued pay county, fl, has been taking a hard righ-wing approach to prescribing medication to its patients by eliminating all bezodiazipiems, and any controlled schdule 2 medications such as amphetamines for adhd which i took 20 mg a day for working utilitarian purposes and zolpidem which gave me 5 hours of sleep at night, even though its was chemically produced. There are no doctors on the state board which oversees the psychiatrists in florida,yet these republican cronies are telling seasoned psychiatrists what to give their patients! That is why the Parkland high school massacre happened; because the state of florida reactionaries could care less about the mental… health of its low income citizens,Ric scott and company would rather sell weapons and send poor people to prison when tragedy like orlando and parkland occur.I have adhd and I have had it all my life.

My first appointment with a psychiatrist was in 1986. After many hospitalizations and many ECT’s, I had the good fortune to become a patient of Dr. Lewis’s. My husband and I moved in 2004 to Morehead City where he was practicing. I stayed under his care until he relocated to Florida in 2017. After experiencing many psychiatrists in three different cities, I had a lot of experience with both good and bad ones. While under Dr. Lewis’s care, I never needed hospitalization or ECT’s. He is a very focused and calm physician and worked diligently with me to stabilize my problems...major depression, generalized anxiety disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder. He did not just prescribe medications for me. He really listened to me and got to know me. I was always confident in the treatment he extended to me. I am very thankful that my path crossed his.

What kind of doctor tells a patient to abandon family members without all information. Your patients are heavy pot smokers and do not make you aware of that and mixing with dangerous meds and you do not do urine tests.
