Dr. Beau Links, DO

My grandmother suffers from Alzheimer’s disease/dementia and has experienced severe fluctuations in functioning, confusion, resistance to appointments, refusal of medication, and increasing difficulty with daily activities. Because of her condition, there were times when attending appointments became extremely distressing for her and difficult for my grandfather and family to manage despite repeated efforts to help her attend and receive care. During this time, Dr. Links accused my grandparents of neglect and contacted law enforcement for a wellness check related to missed appointments and concerns about following his protocol. Police came to my grandparents’ home while my grandmother was sleeping, which caused significant emotional distress to an already overwhelmed elderly couple dealing with advanced dementia care. Our family felt that the situation was handled in an accusatory and hostile manner instead of with empathy and understanding toward caregivers managing a patient with… dementia. Dr. Links reportedly questioned my grandfather regarding why he was not properly caring for his wife and implied that she should be his “number one priority.” These comments were deeply upsetting given the emotional and physical burden already placed on elderly caregivers. In addition, our family had requested hospice care/referrals because my grandmother had been eating very little and her condition was worsening. We felt communication surrounding these requests and referrals was dismissive and unprofessional. The overall handling of the situation caused severe emotional distress to our family and ultimately led us to switch doctors entirely in order to continue her care in a healthier and more supportive environment. We understand physicians may have obligations to report legitimate patient safety concerns. However, we believe this situation demonstrated a serious lack of professionalism, compassion, and appropriate communication toward vulnerable elderly patients and caregivers.

My husband and I think that Dr. Links is the best Dr. that we have ever seen and we are in our seventies. He takes time to talk to you and get to know you and you to know him. He explains everything and even looks you straight in the eyes when talking to you, and that is a sign of honesty and trust. So we think we have found our last Doctor.

Dr Links is very thorough asking a lot of questions and I feel genuinely cares. I am so glad he came to Huntington. I have all my family going to him now. Highly recommended .
