Dr. Belinda K Smith, DO

First - I cannot call Belinda Smith a Dr., she does not meet my min. standard of: caring, competent and professional. My aunt is in an assisted living facility. The facility head nurse most recently called Belinda Smith's office, (3) consecutive days (Monday (1)x, Tuesday (2)x, and again Wednesday morning), NO RESPONSE AT ALL. The facility made the professional decision Wednesday morning to take my Aunt directly to urgent care and not wait any longer for Belinda Smith. My aunts condition was getting worse. On Monday she was coughing, on Wednesday morning in the nurse's professional opinion, she would have pneumonia soon if nothing was done. I call Belinda Smiths office, the nurse told me my complaint of lack of response had been heard before. The nurse was concerned, she gave me the administrators phone number. I left a voice mail, no returned call at this time. I spoke to the head nurse at the assisted living facility, she advised this is not an isolated case for Belinda Smith. … The facility has other Belinda Smith patients, with the same problem. Please keep in mind, in this case Belinda Smith and her staff were not returning calls from a NURSE at an assisted living facility with Belinda Smith listed as the primary doctor. My personal opinion based on the past (2) years being my aunts advocate, Belinda Smith does not care enough about her patients to fix a known problem. I know it's a known problem to Belinda Smith because my aunt during multiple office visits has informed her of the problem. On other recent occasion my aunt was in Belinda Smith's office, Belinda Smith wanted my aunt to go to the emergency room because she though she had pneumonia. Belinda Smith never told my aunt she needed to go to the hospital while she was in the room according to my aunt. Belinda Smith sent in a nurse to tell my aunt. Is this caring, competent and professional or do I expect to much? My suggestion is if you know of a friend or family member and Belinda Smith is their Dr,. please be an advocate for them and find a Dr. who will care for them. I believe Belinda Smith is breaking the Hippocratic oath; "I shall do no harm." If a Dr. cannot keep this promise are they a Dr.? Someone who cares!
