Dr. Bella Shapnik, MD

Short version: Long wait time, mediocre doctor, horrible receptionist desk services and they will improperly handle your health insurance information. Long version: I would give this doctor zero stars if possible. The physician herself lacks passion and motivation to give proper attention to her patients. This is apparent from all of the poor reviews. This is my personal experience with Dr. Shapnik before I found a different PCP. I'm a college student and needed health documents and vaccinations for my college. The initial wait time for the doctor to see me was 2 hours, 10 AM-12 PM. The receptionist is terrible, I will leave it as that. I work in a healthcare clinic and long wait times are normal, but not 2 hours and not for the reason she was late. Apparently this doctor works at a different hospital, during her in-office clinical hours. So when she gets stuck at the hospital, you pay the price. I understand, it's a hospital and unforeseen things happen. However, DON'T post… office hours that conflict with those hours; common sense? So the doctor finally arrives. She gets ready, takes another 30 minutes to settle in. I'm waiting in the patient room and I hear a gentleman, who just walked in the clinic, speak to the doctor. She immediately takes care of that patient, they spoke the same language (not english), and she takes more time before seeing me. Then she finally sees me and she starts telling me that I don't need some vaccinations for my school because she knows that schools in NY don't mandate a vaccination if you're not dorming. I tell her I want to get it done just in case because worst case scenario, my body develops antibodies and I'm safer with it than without it. She administers the vaccines, draws my blood, and then I'm done. Total time seeing the doctor was less than 10 minutes. Okay so done, never need to see her again until the results come back. Results arrive a few days later, and then same thing. I hit another 2 hour wait. I'm finally done with this office right? Nope. The month after my appointment, I receive an invoice in the mail from the lab that did my blood work for $956. I call the lab because my insurance should have covered most, if not, all of the blood work. They tell me my doctors office did not submit any of my health insurance records to them. Overall, if you care about your time, quality of health provider care/skill, and customer care hospitality. DO NOT go to this physician.
