Dr. Ben Yan, MD

Very helpful with my first time experience with cancer. Things are going very well.

I have been a patient of Dr. Yan’s since 2016. I feel that he has been paramount in my recovery from a horrible and rare breast cancer. He takes his time, never rushes me and always willing to discuss my concerns and what he feels should be done. His office staff is always friendly and calls me in a timely manner with results from tests and scans that I have done.

I have been seeing Dr. Yan since 2016 and feel that he had been instrumental in my recovery from cancer. He takes his time, goes over all aspects of treatment and never makes you feel like you’re wasting his time with concerns or questions

Doctor Yan has always taken wonderful care of my mom who was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer in 2016; she has been under his care ever since. He is thorough and spends lots of time with his patients. His office staff is always on the ball with providing prompt results and making appointments when any concerns arise. We could not hope for a better oncologist with whom to embark upon this journey of cancer with.

I was diagnosed with lung cancer and referred to Dr. Yan by another BayCare physician. I had done a lot of research about my diagnosis including new immunotherapy drugs. A friend of mine who was previously treated for breast cancer told me the medical oncologist should be the captain of the ship. Upon my first meeting with Dr. Yan, he seemed very confused. He had not reviewed most of my medical records and was trying to order a PET scan even though I had one 10 day prior. He was impatient and arrogant. I felt so uncomfortable after that 1 visit that I switched to another medical oncolgist. I would caution patients to go elsewhere. I love my BayCare PCP but Dr. Yan is incompetent.

His lack of knowledge cost my son his life. He is a terrible doctor that should not be allowed to practice medicine.

My cancer is very rare and I have done a ton of research on it. I bring my opinions to Dr. Yan and he listens and then presents his. We don't always agree, but I have no doubt that he has my best interests at heart and his care includes all my body systems and quality of life issues. After over two years with him, I believe that we have forged a good working relationship and I see no need to look for an "MPN Specialist" as I have been advised to by others with my condition.

He is very helpful and does an excellent job explaining reasons for testing and what the physical reasons may be to do a test where it may not be clear to me as the patient.

Dr. Yan is the worst Dr. we have ever worked with. We have never dealt with cancer before and he does not answer your questions. our whole experience with this cancer crap has been a nightmare. We get the feeling that he just does not care! He does not explain anything to you and does not help you feel comfortable with working with him! I hope he is doing the right chemo for me! But he needs to work on his people skills. He needs to at least act like he cares to make his patients at least think he cares! I would not recommend him to anyone!

Never rushes me when I have an appointment and answers all my questions in laymen's terms. I trust him with my life!
