Dr. Benhoor Soumekh, MD

I had an appointment for my daughter this morning with Dr. Benhoor Soumekh and I thought he was fantastic. I was worried about his bedside manner as people have previously mentioned that but I found him to be extremely personable and really enjoyed meeting him.

He was the worst doctor I have seen! Was referred to him for my daughter in need of tubs and nasal issues! Didn’t interduce him self, didn’t read anything sent to him about my daughter! Was very rude and unprofessional! Waste of my time and energy! Doesn’t care about his patients! Now because of him my daughter gets to suffer longer! Don’t waste your time!

We were in to the doctor in 2015 and tubes and adenoid removal was recommended. The fluid ending up draining so we didn't have surgery. In 2016 we had the same problem repeat and Soumekh would not remove adenoids in conjunction with the tubes. He was dismissive and his manners in the visit were lacking. We are seeing a different ENT for a second opinion. My time and money I was spending to see him was not well spent. However, Soumekh did tell me that he would make less money if he didn't remove the adenoids.

Dr. Soumekh accurately and quickly diagnosed my son's life threatening condition (a hemangioma in the airway), which is somewhat unusual. At our initial visit (which was at something like 3:45pm on a Friday), he ended up sending us to the PICU at Children's so that he could assess the severity of the condition, and ensure that things were stable. When we were done with the tests (at around 11pm), I asked him if he was on call that night.. turns out he had taken the time out of his own schedule to ensure our son's well-being. He brought in another doctor from Children's Hematology to help manage the condition; I did some research after the fact, and the hematologist happens to be the top in the state for this condition. The docs were able to propose a non invasive way to treat the hemangioma, and we saw Dr. Soumekh every 4-6 weeks to monitor things until the hemangioma resolved around 20 months later. I highly recommend him based on our experience; he always went over our options,… listened to our concerns, etc. I have also talked to other doctors about the experience since; most have known Dr. Soumekh, and have said he was the right doctor for the situation.

Dr. Souemekh has treated my son for hearing loss and put tubes in and took his adenoids out. He cares about the children he sees and answers there quetions. He is great I would definitely recommend him.

My son was being checked for ear issues and possible tube placement. He was dismissive to any questions and literally had one foot out the door when I expressed concern over my son's hearing test results. He spent less then 5 minutes total with my son and I during the visit. We will not be going back to him.

My son has his tonsils and adcnoids out in 2009 at first I thought he was just ok as far as bed side manners but when I called with aftercare concerns he was friendly. Today I took my daughter in she also needs the same surgery but after the hearing test he came in to tell me she has moderate hearing loss. He was very caring and compassionate to us. I am glad she is having soumekh doing her surgery

Bedside manner is just as important as credentials. This doctor needs definite polishing when it comes to answering questions and putting caring parents at ease.
