General Dentist Benjamin H. Barkley, DDS
A North Carolina native, Dr. Barkley grew up in Rocky Mount, and attended Rocky Mount Sr. High where he 
played baseball and football. He later attended North Carolina State University receiving his Bachelor of Science 
degree in textile management. Following his dream of becoming a dentist, Dr. Barkley attended the 
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he received his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. 
During dental school, Dr. Barkley was a member of the UNC Mexico project. This select dental team spent two 
weeks living at an orphanage in Mexico where they delivered essential dental care and education to the children. 
He also participated in several Mission of Mercy free clinics throughout the state which delivered dental care to 
underserved residents of North Carolina. For his dedication and commitment to this cause, Dr. Barkley was 
recognized as the most involved volunteer of his class for two consecutive …years. After graduating from dental school, 
Dr. Barkley participated in a residency program at the Fayetteville Veterans Affairs hospital, where he received 
advanced training in general dentistry. He is committed to providing quality dentistry and expanded services through 
continuing education courses.
Dr. Barkley's parents have lived in the High Country for 15 years and currently reside in West Jefferson, N.C. 
In his spare time he enjoys traveling and hiking with his wife, Homa.
Dr. Barkley and his team look forward to serving the High Country with exceptional dentistry and are committed 
to providing patients with gentle, comprehensive dental care in a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere.
