Dr. Benjamin E Cohen, MD

My last visit to Dr Cohen revealed a side of him that I surely will avoid ever seeing again. He became hostile when I mentioned aspects of my face lift as well as serious concerns re my mastopexy ( he failed to do liposuction on the sides of my breasts leaving bulging fat / skin on each side. Second opinions on both matters have confirmed my dismay.) He did not observe a conservative protocol in preoperative screening for breast cancer that has caused concern w my treaters as breast cancer risk is very high in my family of which he is aware Upon hearing my disappointments, he became shockingly defensive and rude . NOTE: I wish I had brought someone with me to the post surgery appt -iE he NEVER would have bullied me had my husband been w me . What can the attending subordinate nurse say upon witnessing what occurred ? Nothing. I no longer respect Ben Cohen as a person and have ZERO confidence in his skills. I recommend shopping around - there are several new… generations of younger and talented surgeons w fantastic reputations here in Houston . Good luck

Let me preface that I have personally had satisfactory experience with Dr.Cohen and recently returned 9 years later for further surgery. I have referred countless persons to him over the years I had ultimate trust and respect for him and have never questioned his character. His skills, in my opinion, have dropped significantly . He was very defensive when I merely commented on aspects of the results .His demeanor changed; he was sarcastic, dismissive and clearly angered by my expression of concern . A few of his comments were clearly intended to intimidate me . I am confident that he would never have behaved the way he did had I been accompanied with my husband or friend. His nurse must have been shocked but office staff see another side of the physician than patients do. I have lost all respect in Ben Cohen and will never return or refer him again. There are many plastic surgeons in this great city , who specialize in one area and I would suggest that one seek out a surgeon… who is a specialist in a certain area and not one who presents himself as having proficiency in all areas. Honestly, had I heard another report such as my recent unfavorable experience , I would have never have believed it . I guess a person can change in character and abilities in a nine year period . I recommend seeking other surgeons . He could have retired recently as his office staff has been saying that his retirement was imminent for the last two years.

I had a parotid tumor removed in my left cheek. All my facial nerves were carefully handled and I am now fine! I do have recurring tumors so I hope I can have them removed soon.

I wanted a facelift and my upper legs done after reaching 40. When researching plastic surgeons in the UK I felt that most of them did not have the expertise of US surgeons and I was not prepared to have my face ruined by a bungling fool. After watching him on TV and researching Dr Cohen I took the plunge and contacted his office. Flew in from the UK and remained in Houston for a couple of weeks. I did not want to look false, windswept or weird and I explained that to him. He is an understanding, skilled surgeon who I would recommend. I look gorgeous!
