Benjamin Deitzen

Ben Deitzen is a nurse practitioner at Ashland Medical Center and comes to Tamarack Health from the Twin Ports region. Originally from a rural community outside of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Ben is passionate about providing local and accessible care, focusing on patients’ goals.
He is particularly interested in the continuity of care after an emergency care visit – ensuring that a patient has a local family medicine follow-up visit to prevent gaps in care. He is also passionate about building long-term relationships in the local community.
Ben sees patients of all ages, and his clinical interests include preventive care, treatment of chronic disease, promoting a healthy lifestyle, wellness, and aging with dignity and style.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Megan Sandberg (also a family medicine provider at Tamarack Health), and their two dogs, Athena and Lee. He enjoys hiking, bonfires, saunas, swimming in Lake Superior, reading, camping, playing board …games, hosting friends, cross-country skiing, and exploring the Northland.
