Dr. Benjamin Orie Herzberg, MD

I am a board-certified medical oncologist specializing in the treatment of thoracic malignancies. I received my undergraduate degree from Princeton University, an MD from the combined Harvard Medical School and MIT Program in Health Sciences and Technology (HST), and an MSc in the History of Science and Medicine from Imperial College, London. I completed my internship and residency training in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, where I was a Stanbury Physician-Scientist trainee, and my fellowship in medical oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where I was Chief Fellow. I see patients with all types of thoracic malignancies, including non-small cell lung cancer, small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma and thymoma. As someone whose own life was touched by cancer diagnoses, I work with a team of specialists to bring individual, compassionate care to each of my patients. My major research interest is in developing the next generation of targeted therapies for …lung and other cancers. I have been principal investigator and on international steering committees for over 30 clinical trials, including those targeting RAS, MTAP, SMARCA4, and other synthetic tumor vulnerabilities. My laboratory work leverages direct observations from the clinic to develop new strategies to deploy these medicines and minimize their side effects. My work has been recognized by awards from the NIH and several other organizations.
