Dr. Benjamin Jado Matthews, MD

Benjamin Matthews, MD, is an OB-GYN who specializes in care for patients with gynecologic cancer or pre-cancer, as well as patients at high risk for these conditions based on genetics and family history. He provides surgical care with minimally invasive techniques (robotic and laparoscopic surgery) and, when needed, more complex open surgical procedures. When surgery isn't the best way to treat, he collaborates with Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology providers to get patients the care they need.Dr. Matthews places a priority on evidence-based, patient-centered care individualized to each patient's condition, incorporating their personal values and based on the latest scientific evidence about cancer treatment. He hopes to expand clinical trial options at Geisinger in coming years so patients can access new medications without traveling hours to major cities. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School, completed his 4-year OB-GYN residency at Boston Medical Center and completed a 3-year Gynecologic Oncology fellowship at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. He provides care in English and Spanish.
